In order to protect yourself properly, you don't need all of the insurances that are available in the market. It depends on what you need to protect - and this means different things to different people.
A few examples:
* People whose children are grown up and no longer dependent on them possibly no longer need term life insurance. This also applies to singles who have nobody dependent on them.
* There are those who own income-generating assets - an apartment that is rented, a business with an ongoing stream of revenues, an annuity that comes in regularly - this needs to be taken into account when setting up life insurance.
On the other hand,, the decision to take out private health insurance has nothing to do with your current state of health - you may be currently fighting fit and long may you stay that way, but who knows....
