Israel Update

We often speak about the women and children, and rightly so. But today I also want to acknowledge the men, the fathers, brothers, sons, uncles, and friends whose suffering is too often overlooked. I want to honor the Israeli men, Jewish men, Druze men, Arab men, and others who were murdered on October 7, who were victims of sexual violence, and who were taken hostage by Hamas. Their pain matters. Their stories matter. May we never forget them.

The U.S. Embassy issued a rare “Unusual Alert” warning Americans about organized crime gangs in Israel.

The media immediately treated it as if Israel had suddenly become one of the world’s most dangerous places.

Here’s the part they left out.

📊 Israel’s national homicide rate: ~3.0 per 100,000
📊 Jewish population in Israel: ~0.7 per 100,000
📊 United States national average: 5.0 per 100,000
📊 Memphis: 40.6 per 100,000

Several major U.S. cities also have overall crime rates 3–15 times higher than Israel’s national figures.

So yes, the Embassy alert is real. It addressed a localized dispute between organized crime families involving gr***de and shooting attacks in central Israel.

But let’s keep it in perspective.

An American is statistically more likely to face violent crime in multiple U.S. cities than the average Israeli is going about daily life.

There’s another point that’s often ignored.

Israel’s homicide statistics also include victims of terrorism. Remove terror attacks from the equation, and the homicide rate among ordinary criminal violence is even lower than the national figure suggests.

None of this means Israel has no crime. Every country does.

It means headlines without context create distorted perceptions.

The alert was real.

The comparison is what should make people stop and think.

The narrative flips faster than you can say “inconsistent.”

Critics scream: “Israel won’t let journalists into Gaza to document war crimes!”
Then: “Israel is murdering innocent journalists in Gaza!”

Reality check: Israel restricts independent foreign media access for security reasons during active combat. At the same time, it has facilitated embedded access through coordinated convoys to allow reporting while mitigating risks. I’ve personally served on several of those missions where journalists were embedded with us.

Meanwhile, a detailed study by the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center found that of 266 individuals identified as journalists or media workers killed in Gaza between October 7, 2023, and November 30, 2025, at least 157 (~60%) were members of terror groups or clearly affiliated with them, including 104 linked to Hamas and 45 to Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Operatives, not neutral reporters.

They can’t keep their story straight because the story was never straight. It’s propaganda versus the messy truth of urban warfare against a terrorist group that doesn’t wear uniforms and exploits its own population for PR wins.

Hamas started this war with atrocities, hides among civilians, and the world blames Israel for fighting back.

For nearly three years, Israel 🇮🇱 has been accused of fabricating claims that Hamas steals and obstructs humanitarian aid ment for the Gazans.

Now, a senior UN official has publicly condemned Hamas for obstructing humanitarian operations, intimidating aid workers, assaulting truck drivers, raiding a World Food Programme warehouse, and disrupting the delivery of lifesaving assistance. The statement describes a “dangerous pattern of intimidation, violence and obstruction” that is putting civilians and humanitarian workers at even greater risk.

The truth matters.

When aid is diverted, disrupted, or weaponized, it is the people of Gaza who suffer the most.

Facts should always come before propaganda.

It’s time to wake up, the UN 🇺🇳 has lost all credibility a long time ago. 🤨
