While we face local and regional emergency situation, we must stay committed to a better future for all. This week, we mark International Women’s Day by sharing the insights and experiences of women from around the world who participated in MCTC’s professional training courses.
Five days. Five women. Five programs.

Day 5 | Combating Gender-Based Violence

We close this week's International Women's Day series with one of the most urgent issues facing women worldwide.

Gender-based violence remains one of the greatest obstacles to achieving fundamental human rights. All types of violence — physical, sexual, psychological, and economic — affect people of all backgrounds, yet women continue to bear the greatest burden. In times of crisis, the situation worsens: existing vulnerabilities deepen, systems of protection are strained, and access to support becomes harder to reach.

Addressing GBV requires more than policy commitments. It requires trained professionals on the ground — social workers, psychologists, lawyers, and community leaders — equipped with the tools and knowledge to intervene, support survivors, and drive long-term change.

In March 2025, MCTC held a two-week international course on "Combating Gender-Based Violence." The course brought together professionals from Cameroon, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Georgia, Guatemala, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, and Ukraine. Over two weeks, participants examined the root causes and cultural dimensions of GBV, intervention models and survivor-centered approaches to treatment, the role of shelters and rehabilitation services, short-term and long-term trauma care, and the particular ways in which conflict and crisis amplify patterns of violence against women. The program combined lectures, workshops, and field visits across Israel.

As we wrap up this series, we are reminded that the work highlighted this week — resilience, innovation, education, leadership, and the fight against violence — cannot be done in silos. These are all pieces of the same effort: building a world where women can live, learn, lead, and be safe.

Day 4 | Early Childhood Education and Development

Early childhood is the first and most critical period in a person’s life. The quality of a child’s early experiences shapes the development of the brain, the capacity for learning, and long-term health and well-being. When children miss this window of opportunity, the consequences last a lifetime.

Globally, women make up the vast majority of the early childhood education workforce. They are the teachers, caregivers, psychologists, and policymakers shaping the foundation on which entire generations are built. On International Women’s Day, it is important to recognize this work for what it is — one of the most impactful forms of professional leadership there is.

In May 2025, MCTC, in collaboration with the University of Haifa, held a course on “Inclusive Early Childhood Education and Development.” The course brought together educators, school directors, special education teachers, policymakers, and child development specialists from Albania, Moldova, and Ukraine.

Over the course of the program, participants explored Israel’s approach to early childhood education, innovative methods for inclusive learning environments, early intervention programs, the role of building resilience in children, families, and communities, and the use of creative therapies such as art, music, and movement in child development. The program combined lectures, professional discussions, workshops, and visits to kindergartens, day-care centers, and organizations that support children and families across Israel.

Day 3 | Entrepreneurship & Innovation

Innovation does not happen in isolation. It grows when people from different countries, industries, and backgrounds come together to exchange ideas — and when women have equal access to the tools, networks, and knowledge needed to turn those ideas into reality.

On International Women's Day, it is worth recognizing that women remain underrepresented in the fields of innovation and intellectual property worldwide. Closing that gap requires more than awareness — it requires practical training, professional exchange, and platforms that bring women to the table.

In September 2024, MCTC held an international course on "Open Innovation and Intellectual Property." The course brought together professionals from across Latin America — the Dominican Republic, Peru, Colombia, Guatemala, Ecuador, Panama, Mexico, El Salvador, and Uruguay — including innovation coordinators, university researchers, IP specialists, and independent consultants.

Over two weeks, participants explored strategies for open innovation, intellectual property policy, knowledge transfer, and the role of innovation ecosystems in driving economic development. The course provided a space for professionals to share the realities of their own countries and learn from Israel's experience in building an innovation-driven economy.

In today's video, Veronica Carmelina Diaz Aviles, an independent consultant working with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in El Salvador, shares her perspective on the course. 10/03/2026

Day 2 | Building Community Resilience in Times of Crisis

Resilience is one of the most discussed concepts of our time — and for good reason. Around the world, communities are facing conflict, displacement, natural disasters, and prolonged uncertainty. The question is no longer whether crises will come, but how prepared we are to face them.

For women, this question carries particular weight. Women are often the first responders within their families and communities — the ones holding things together when systems are under pressure. Yet they are also disproportionately affected by crisis. On International Women's Day, it is worth recognizing that resilience is not just an abstract idea. It is daily, practical, and deeply personal work — and women are at the center of it.

In the Summer of 2024, MCTC, together with the International Resilience Center in Sderot, held an international course on "Building Community Resilience in Times of Crisis." The course brought together psychologists, social workers, and professionals from Azerbaijan, Ethiopia, Georgia, Ghana, Guatemala, Kenya, Mexico, Nepal, Rwanda, and Vietnam.

Over two weeks, participants explored Israeli models for coping with trauma, methods for developing resilience at both the personal and community level, psychological first aid as a tool for early intervention, and strategic approaches to crisis preparedness.

Day 1 | Women Leaders Conference 2025

International Women's Day is an opportunity to recognize the role women play in shaping our world — and this year, that recognition carries added weight as we face local and regional emergency situation.

In October 2025, marking the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, MCTC held its 32nd International Women Leaders Conference in Haifa and Jerusalem, titled "Shaping the Future: Women's Leadership, AI & Gender Equality."

Women leaders from several countries around the globe chose to come. They came to engage with some of the most pressing questions at the intersection of gender and technology — from bridging the gender divide in tech, to combating gender-based violence through digital initiatives, and promoting the responsible use of generative AI.

During the conference, participants collaboratively drafted a joint declaration with practical recommendations for advancing a more inclusive global society.

Around the world, women continue to lead, build, and create — often under the most difficult circumstances. Conflict, instability, and crisis do not pause the need for progress, and neither do the women working to make it happen. Resilience is not about enduring hardship in silence. It is about choosing to move forward, to keep doing the needed work, and to stay committed to a better future even when the present is uncertain. That is what International Women's Day means this year — not just recognition, but a reminder that our efforts to do better continue, everywhere, no matter the circumstances.

In today's video, the distinguished participants of the 2025 conference share what the experience meant for them.
