Delighted to say that my latest humorous book has just been launched. It’s called ‘Who Gives a Focal? - 100 words and phrases Ireland gave the English language.’ (For non-Irish people, it has nothing to do with optics, haha.) My 30th book, which includes several novels, five history books, two Irish guide books and the rest humorous. 'Who Gives a Focal?' is designed and illustrated by Donal O’Dea, and it’s in all good bookshops now, as they say. Perfect for your Christmas stocking fillers!

Delighted my article on mapping pioneer Thomas Drummond has just been published in this year's Summit Annual magazine. Drummond was an important contributor to early 19th century mapping and an influence on cartography the world over, and he was also a key player in making Ireland the first country in the world to be mapped in its entirety in great detail. He is buried in the largest monumental tomb in Dublin's historic Mount Jerome Cemetery.
