Blueberry & Lemon Yoghurt Loaf Cake.

Who said cake isn't art? I love to cook and bake. This week I made two cakes. I got the receipe from Nevin Maguires free receipe booklet from Dunnes Stores. It's a lovely cake and easy to make.

Cian - Recently, my colleagues son made his communion. I made a surprise gift for them on their special day and they loved the piece.

Here are three works from my black and red series, created between 2022 and 2023

Cambodia 1964 – a swamp-like landscape, with the sunset glancing across still water.

Thu Bon River – a lone figure wading through the river. I’ve always called him “Larry” in my mind, he’s on his way to his local for a quiet drink.

Mekong River 1962 – inspired by the vast transboundary river stretching from the Tibetan Plateau to the South China Sea.

I really enjoyed working on these canvases and I’m looking forward to exploring this colour palette again in future pieces.

HA Long Bay, Vietnam 1960 - A3 Canvas

Take a look at my online store, where you’ll find one of my earliest pieces, “Ha Long Bay,” created when I began GeroArts in 2022.

This original work holds deep personal significance. It's inspiration comes from a place of refuge during the Vietnam War - an area that was considered off-limits as a target and used to care for those affected by the conflict.

When I first started painting, I felt a strong pull to explore themes connected to the Vietnam War, and this piece reflects that early creative direction.

Castle Hotel - The oldest hotel in Dublin

In November, I had the pleasure of creating this lovely piece for my colleague. Fernando used to work in this hotel and his friend and manager gave him a job when he first came to Dublin. Fionn and Fernando have remained great friends to this day.

As a gift for Christmas, Fernando asked me paint a picture of Fionn standing outside his hotel. I painted it to some music by The Dubliners and English band Embrace.

It is a beautiful hotel with stunning rooms plus food and beverages to be had.

I’ve attached some photos and videos in the making of the piece and I recommend a visit the next you are looking at your next breakaway.
