'Mix Pix' Photography Exhibition 📷

Mix Pix, a photography exhibition by local photographer Mick McCormack, will be showcased in Ballaghaderreen Library from Tuesday 4th August to Saturday 8th August, as part of the Ballaghaderreen Arts Festival.

This captivating collection of photographs will be on display during the festival and can be viewed during the library's opening hours. Visitors are invited to explore Mick's unique perspective and enjoy a diverse range of striking images celebrating people, places, and moments through the lens of a talented local artist.

Admission is free and all are welcome.

Recently, we've brought together a series of music arrangements as part of our Special Collections. They include an eclectic mix from Brahms to Rossini, songs from musicals, and The Waverley Collection of Rare and Beautiful Music published in 1930.

Preserved and collected by Rev. P. A. Walsh and arranged for 2–3 voices with piano accompaniment by Dr. Annie Patterson, Traditional Irish Airs of Gaelic songs published by Browne & Nolan was catalogued by Roscommon Library service in 1934.

The joint contribution of Walsh and Patterson provided over 100 melodies to schools, and played an important part in the Gaelic Revival, preserving and sharing a musical heritage and ensuring it could be enjoyed by a new generation of singers, musicians and teachers. The cover image of the harper is by the artist Ailbhe Ó Monacháin, Belfast.

Let your imagination run wild and enter our Summer Stars Poetry Competition at Strokestown Library✍

There will be one winner in each age category:
Ages 7-9, 10-12 and 13-15 ✨

Entries can also be handwritten and dropped into the library during our opening hours on Fridays and Saturdays.
