Getting World Cup Ready at Climber Hall! πβ½
The excitement is building ahead of the World Cup, and our service users are getting involved in the fun! π
A special shutout to Margaret, who has a keen interest in all things soccer. Margaret set herself a goal of organising a World Cup sweepstake, with staff support, for both service users and staff, bringing everyone together to share in the excitement of the tournament.
There has been lots of discussion, friendly competition, and plenty of predictions about who will lift the trophy!
Well done, Margaret, for taking the initiative and helping create such a fun and engaging activity for everyone at Climber Hall. ππ

In Beechmount, we are trialling a new Newsletter Group. The group provides an opportunity to come together, read, and discuss local, national, and international news stories in a relaxed and supportive environment.
We are looking forward to learning about current events, exploring topics of interest, and sharing thoughts and opinions with one another.
We're excited to see how the group develops and to hear everyone's ideas and perspectives in the weeks ahead! π°ππ

Our Ashbourne service hosted a bake sale in aid of the Tag Meath Autism Group. We had previously met with Niall and Geraldine in February and they delivered a presentation to the Ashbourne group, showcasing the fantastic work that they do for children and teenagers with autism. We were delighted to host a bake sale for them and to raise funds for such a great cause. A brilliant day was had in the sunshine, with everyone enjoying some nice cakes and some laughs. An incredible 835 euro was raised for Autism Tag Meath!
We would like to extend a massive thank you to anyone who donated money, to all of the local businesses who donated raffle prizes, to everyone who baked and to anyone who came to the bake sale. We are so thankful to everyone who joined us and contributed. ππ«Άπ§βοΈ

Cathal, Paul, Caroline and Aaron from our Ashbourne service completed a ten-week block of social farming on Peter's farm. Peter's farm is a thoroughbred horse breeding station that also grazes cattle and sheep. The group helped out with plenty of jobs on the farm, such as mucking out/ cleaning stables, clearing out sheds, tidying around the yards and hay and feed management. Social farming gave the group valued social roles and they thoroughly enjoyed working alongside Peter. To end the ten weeks, Peter invited the group to Fairyhouse race course to watch horses being sold at Tatterstalls Ireland. This was a fantastic way to end the ten weeks as the group got to work with horses on the farm that were being prepared for sales and it then came full circle when they got to watch horses being sold at Tatterstalls. The group enjoyed watching the sales and then a big lunch out afterwards- courtesy of Peter too! We would like to extend a massive thank you to Peter and to say well done to all of our farmers in the making! πππ

Service users from Climber Hall and Farrell Street in Kells took part in in support of the Make Way Day campaign on Friday, 29 May, alongside Garda Gallagher from the Meath North Community Engagement Team and representatives from Meath County Council.
Make Way Day is an annual awareness campaign that promotes accessible streets and footpaths for people with disabilities. The campaign aims to highlight the many everyday obstacles, blocked pathways and other obstructions that can make it difficult for people to move safely and independently within their communities.
By participating in , service users helped raise awareness of the importance of keeping public spaces accessible, inclusive, and welcoming for everyone πβ¨ πβΏ

Caroline from our Ashbourne service expressed an interest during her recent personal planning meeting in learning more about saving and budgeting. She decided to set herself a goal of saving β¬70 over seven weeks so that she could get her hair done.
With the support of her key worker, Sophie, Caroline got a money-saving book and saved β¬10 each week during the money management programme in the service. She kept track of her savings in her book and, when she reached her savings goal, she treated herself to a trip to the hairdresser.
Caroline wanted a cut and colour, and she chose a gorgeous cherry red shade. She is excited to continue saving and budgeting for future expenses. ππ°π§Ύ
Well done, Caroline! π
