As Men’s Health Week 2026 comes to a close on Father's Day, we’re celebrating the dads, grandads, and father figures who keep us moving every day. 👣

This year’s message of “𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘚𝘵𝘦𝘱 𝘢𝘵 𝘢 𝘛𝘪𝘮𝘦: 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴, 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯” reminds us that looking after our health doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it’s as simple as a walk together, a chat, or making time to be active.

Today is a great opportunity to take that step, with the people who matter most.

Funding is provided for the development of new and existing outdoor recreational infrastructure in rural areas.

ORIS Funding Now Open for Outdoor Projects in Rural Meath

The 2026 Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) has been launched by Minister Calleary – supporting the development and enhancement of outdoor amenities across rural Ireland. From walking trails and cycleways to blueways and forest walks, this scheme helps bring great ideas to life in our communities.

Meath County Council is now inviting Expressions of Interest (EOIs):
🔹 Measure 1 – Small-scale repairs, maintenance and promotion up to €40,000
🔹 Measure 2 – Medium-scale upgrades and new trail development up to €200,000
🔹 Measure 3 – Large-scale strategic projects and new amenities up to €500,000
🔹 Project Development Measure – Planning and design to get projects shovel-ready up to €100,000

Protect Our Dunes 2026 - Why Sand Dunes Matter?

Sand dunes reduce coastal erosion, absorb storm energy, and provide habitats for rare plants and animals. Human activities like trampling, sliding down dunes, wild camping, and roaming dogs can cause lasting damage.

Small actions by visitors can make a big difference:
✅ Stick to designated pathways
✅ Avoid walking or running on dunes
✅ Follow local signage
✅ Observe wildlife from a respectful distance

Together, we can preserve our county's natural coastal treasures!

Our second block of swimming programmes has come to an end at Kells Swimming Pool, Integral Fitness & Leisure Bettystown , and Aura Navan Leisure Centre 🏊‍♂️

A huge thank you to all the pools and staff for their support, and to every participant for the amazing energy and commitment throughout the programme 👏

We saw fantastic progress across all groups — Women, Adults 50+, Parent & Toddler, Youth Reach, and Traveller Men — a brilliant achievement by everyone involved!
