Last Week, Verena represented GOSHH at an EU High-Level Conference on Equality in Dublin.

Under the theme The EU’s Equality Advantage, the conference explored how advancing gender equality and tackling the exclusion experienced by marginalised communities—including LGBTIQ+ people, Roma communities and migrants—can strengthen Europe’s economy, innovation and social cohesion.

Discussions focused on the gender pay gap, the care economy, AI and digital transformation, and diversity in leadership. The conference highlighted that equality is not only a matter of rights and fairness; it is essential to ensuring that everyone can participate fully in society.

Ireland’s Presidency over the coming months provides an important opportunity to bring gender equality to the forefront of the European agenda and to help shape the next steps towards a fairer and more equal Europe.

Clare Pride Coffee Meetup ☕️ 🌈

GOSHH Craft Evening 🎨 🧶

Join us for an evening of crafting and chats on Wednesday September 16th from 6p.m.-8p.m. in the GOSHH Social Space. You can bring along any craft of your choosing and enjoy the company in a warm and cosy atmosphere. Don't have a craft but you would like to take part? That's no problem, we will have plenty available for you to choose from.

So grab your yarn, your thread or your markers and let’s get creative together.

Last week, on World Sexual Health Day, GOSHH and the Midwest Migrant Community Network (MMCN) launched a new report on migrant men’s experiences of sexual health information and services in the Midwest.

We were delighted to welcome guest speakers, representatives from community organisations and local healthcare professionals who joined us to hear about the findings and discuss how services can respond more effectively.

The research involved 19 migrant men from 13 countries. The findings highlight the impact of stigma, cultural taboos and gaps in accessible information. They also demonstrate a clear willingness among migrant men to engage when services are culturally respectful, inclusive and free from judgement.

Santhi Corcoran, Chair and Co-founder of MMCN, said:
“This research gives us an important insight into the experiences of migrant men living in the Midwest. It shows that there is a willingness to learn and engage, but information and services must be delivered in ways that recognise people’s cultural backgrounds and lived experiences. Migrant communities must be actively involved in shaping the supports intended for them.”

Thank you to everyone who participated in the research and shared their experiences, and to the staff of MMCN and GOSHH who brought the project together.
This report is an important step towards ensuring that migrant communities are actively involved in shaping the information and services intended for them.

GOSHH was delighted to be the charity partner for Sarsfields Rugby's Lynch Cup 2026 last weekend.

Róisín and Verena attended the event, where they hosted an information stand, shared details of GOSHH’s services and collected donations to support our work.

GOSHH CEO Verena Tarpey recently attended the 2026 All-Island LGBTQIA+ Forum in the newly renovated Rainbow Project office, based along the historic walls of Derry.

The Forum brought LGBTQIA+ organisations and activists together to explore the challenges facing our communities and identify practical ways to strengthen solidarity, collaboration and movement-building across the island.

The forum was a valuable opportunity to connect, reflect and contribute GOSHH’s regional perspective to these important conversations.

GOSHH Community Café ☕️ 📚️

GOSHH will be opening our doors for another Community Café next Wednesday, 12th August from 12p.m.-3p.m.

This Community social will be an opportunity for people to come into GOSHH and enjoy our social space with a cup of tea or coffee in a warm and welcoming environment. Feel free to browse the GOSHH Library shelves and borrow a book. You can also take this as an opportunity to chat to staff if you have any questions about our social groups and services📚 ☕
