Children and families from the Somali community in Limerick enjoyed a wonderful day out at Fota Wildlife Park with the Doras team last Saturday.

Organised in collaboration with the Limerick Somali community, the trip brought families together for a day of fun and connection.

The outing was part of activities delivered through the H:ouse - Housing: to Overcome Unstable Situation in Europe Project, which aims to strengthen collaboration with local diaspora communities and support integration.

It was a great opportunity for members of the Somali community to meet new people and strengthen relationships within the wider community.

You are not alone. This supportive session explains how to spot abuse at home or in relationships, what help is available, and how to stay safe. For anyone affected, or helping someone who is.

Shouldn't this Government be working towards a more cohesive society, instead of keeping people who are very much needed here on the margins?

We’re over the moon with the Fenergo team, who raised over €1,600 for Doras through the Fenergo Cup last week! The team took on Na Gaeil Nua - The New Gaels GAA, a GAA team established by and made up entirely of migrants. It was a fantastic match, bringing people together through sport and community.

Craig Cahill, one of the organisers, said: "For me, team sports have always been an open doorway into getting to know my local community through inclusion, co-operation, and physical exercise. And I see the GAA as a distinctively Irish way of doing that. We are living in challenging times and for those on the margins of society a welcoming voice, or an event like this, can go a very long way .”

From Algerian Bourek, Brazilian Brigadeiro and Italian Focaccia, to Palestinian Musakhan, Ukrainian dumplings and Mexican Tinga Sopes, Flavours Without Borders brought the world to Limerick. ❤️

Over three days, our communities shared their cultures, food, music and joy with people from across the city.

A huge thank you to everyone who cooked, performed, danced, volunteered and came along to celebrate with us. ❤️
