Fossa Climate Action Group Hold Day of Reflection
As Samhain is felt and the days become ever shorter, Fossa Climate Action Group will host its last event of 2025. On Sunday 30th November at 4:30pm, ‘The Web of Life’ will be an event of reflection for all members of the public. It will take place at Fossa Church, just west of Killarney and will feature two thought provoking speakers: Sylvia Thompson and Dr. Brendan O’ Keefe.
Sylvia Thompson is a Peace Activist and Community Leader who has been working for climate justice for many years. She is also a committee member of JPIC (Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation)in Kerry. Her talk will explore ‘What do spirituality and ethics say to us about caring for our common home?’
Dr. Brendan O’ Keefe is a geographer and social scientist that has published many papers on rural geography and sustainable communities. He will examine ‘What does science tell us about Kerry’s changing climate?’
Our local area is interconnected to places that surround it and as a whole we share our home with all people, animals, and plants that form a delicate ‘web of life’.
Man did not weave the web of life;
he is merely a strand in it.
Whatever he does to the web,
he does to himself.
Everyone is welcome and admission is free thanks to funding from Community Foundation Ireland and the Department of the Environment.
