We’ve used hardwood chopping boards at Ballymaloe Cookery School for over 40 years 👨‍🍳 They’re durable, safe, and practical. Hardwood has natural antibacterial properties. Studies show that bacteria die off more quickly on wood than on plastic, where they can remain in knife marks. Wooden boards are also less damaging to knives. They’re firm enough to chop on but won’t dull the blade as quickly as other surfaces. With proper care — cleaning, drying and occasional oiling — a hardwood board can last for decades. Many of ours have. They’re a reliable part of daily life in the kitchen.

Last week marked our 13th trade show, and as always, it was an amazing experience connecting with new and familiar faces, and unveiling our latest products. This year, though, was extra special because I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of my son. He graciously held off making his entrance until after the show wrapped up, which we are so grateful for! Feeling extra motivated for the year ahead in business, but honestly, nothing compares to the joy of becoming a parent. So many of you were checking in during the show, and I can’t thank you enough for your kind wishes and support! And I just wanted to say my wife is an absolute warrior and what she and other women do is totally under estimated. Here’s to a great year ahead! And you never know he might make an appearance at showcase 2026 to say hello to you all.
