Leinster Plate Champions π
A huge day in Energia Park as our Girls U18s produced a sensational 40β34 win over an unbeaten Port Dara side to bring silverware back to Mill Road.
Having already lost to Port Dara earlier in the season, Dundalk knew they would need their very best - and they delivered from the outset. Powerful carries from Lucy Fleming and Eimear Conroy set the tone, while slick handling from Anna Crosgrove sent Katie McDonald over for the opening score - the first of a brilliant hat-trick. Sarah Duffy was flawless from the tee throughout.
The intensity never dropped, with Ellen Bermingham and Erin Roe driving Dundalk forward, while Aoibheann Reilly controlled things superbly at scrum-half. A huge break from Milata Valtertye led to another crucial score, and further excellent play involving Sophie Malone and Lana Cunningham saw McDonald add her second.
Port Dara showed why they came in unbeaten, responding strongly, but Dundalk finished the half in style - Aisling Traynor linking beautifully to send Cliodhna Hanniffy over for a superb try.
The second half was a battle, with Port Dara piling on the pressure. Scores from Valtertye and McDonald (completing her hat-trick) proved vital, but it came down to the final moments where a sensational turnover from Lauren Shevlin ultimately secured the win.
Backed by a huge Dundalk support, the final whistle sparked scenes of pure joy - a fitting end to a fantastic contest.
An incredible team performance.
