European Movement Ireland were thrilled to take part in the first SHIFT meeting held in Brussels 9-10 June, looking into disinformation resilience through a variety of methods.

🤔 What is SHIFT?

SHIFT (Shaping Informed Frameworks for Trust) is a European project that builds an essential component missing from most initiatives responding to disinformation: it goes beyond simply detecting false narratives, to test what actually works in combating them and to produce counter-narratives that can spread with the same efficiency.

Across 13 EU and neighbouring countries, SHIFT investigates how disinformation reshapes public trust and develops scalable strategies to reverse its impact. The project combines cross-national research and behavioural segmentation with campaign testing in real-world scenarios to understand what changes public engagement and why.

After early warning systems show which narratives are spreading, SHIFT responds by developing interventions that resonate beyond information bubbles and measurably outpace harmful content.

Stay tuned for many more updates about the SHIFT project as they come online in the next 18 months!
