THE SIXTH AMULET by M.A. Maddock
Thank you, Miriam π€
I listened to the Audiobook edition of The Sixth Amulet which was narrated by J Dallin Taylor.
Firstly, the narration is incredible. It's full and ambient, with a whole cast of accents and voices. So well done.
REVIEW π
The book is truly epic in every sense of the word. It has an expansive story and is quite lengthy. Readers will need to pay close attention as the plot jumps across different timelines and locations. However, the payoff is well worth it. I must admit that the fantasy genre, particularly epic fantasy, is not my comfort zone, as I often get confused with the numerous character names. But its merits shine through when a book is skilfully written, planned, and thought out. The Sixth Amulet is an excellent example of such a book.
This is the first book in THE SIXTH AMULET series, and I'm eagerly looking forward to immersing myself in the rest. Fans of grand epic adventures similar to GoT and LotR will fall in love with this book and adore it.

Happy Monday, peeps! I think it's safe to say spring is on it way with March mere days away (I just realised that rhymed π). Despite its anticipated arrival, March, however, can be moody and volatile. But let's not ponder too much on that, and only on brighter days ahead.

So bold! But do I care? Nope! π

It's pancake Tuesday!! I love pancakes. I really do!! No pre-made packet stuff here. Oh, no, I slaved over a hot stove. As well as the peanut butter and melted chocolate option π, I did, however, also opt for a healthier one - lemon juice and castor sugar π. Well, kind of healthy π. What do you put on your pancakes?

So, I've reached book five - A Feast for Crows - of the GOT epic series. Whilst I love an epic saga (I really do!) and am loving this series, a part of me, however, regrets starting it. As it stands, there are seven books (to date) in the series, BUT ... yes, there's the big "BUT", there is no sign of the last - and most anticipated - book appearing on the horizon, which is a wee bit frustrating, hence the following... "Dear George. As a fellow author, I must applaud the success and opportunities your Game of Thrones series has brought you (what I would give to have my novels made into a TV show or movie). But, tell me, do you remember how it all began for you, and when you finished your first manuscript, hoping it would be snapped up by a publisher, then praying people would buy it? I think it's safe to say you've done quite well, and good on you. However, you seem to have forgotten those - the loyal fans - who helped you gain that success. To come this far with such an epic fantasy series and not conclude the story is, well, to be honest, a slap in the face for those fans. While we, as writers and authors, strive for success in a business that is cut-throat and, sometimes, unfair, it's important for the lucky ones to not lose sight of their humble beginnings. And, despite the accolades and everything else that comes with huge success, remember, George, the mighty can fall off their pedestal, should they become complacent. So, do it for the fans, conclude your series, and think of their reaction when they finally read those famous two words - 'The End.'" Just some food for thought, from a humble author.

Some thoughts for readers when debating whether to point out minor errors in books. π€π
Every author, from Stephen King to J. K. Rowling to a self-published author, will likely have typos in their books. As authors, weβre not perfect, nor are our beta readers, editors, and proofreaders. Most of us know our mistakes. We work hard to polish our books to avoid those nasty typos, grammatical errors, and oversights, yet they still creep in. When we write, we are trying to convey important messages, and thatβs a huge high-level task. After numerous rounds of proofing, our brains operate on instinct, and we miss details because we know where the story is going.
Writing and publishing a book is a long and tedious process that switches many hands. Once the work is out there, republishing is not only a huge hassle; itβs costly, and most publishers wonβt do it. Weβre human. Editors and proofreaders are human. Mistakes happen. Readers, be kind. β€οΈ If the errors are few and donβt ruin the story, let it go. Enjoy the story and the many messages it has to offer. π

To be mentioned in the same sentence as Tolkien and Martin is, to say the least, an honour (π₯Ή). Therefore, I must thank fellow author and friend for his whopper of a review of The Moon Chasers π - Book Two of The Sixth Amulet Series. And, trust me, when Gavin reviews a book (in general), you sit up, as he does not dish them out loosely or lightly. Swipe across β‘οΈ to read his review in full. Gavin, you have just made my year π π€.
The Sixth Amulet and The Moon Chasers are available in E-Book, Paperback and Hardback. The Sixth Amulet is now also available in Audiobook π§π (narrated by )

This is so frustrating!!! However, I know I'm not alone here. So, I recently sent out my (harmless) newsletter only to discover THIS. Anyone else experiencing this? I am aware that Google has made some changes regarding emails and the domains they're sent from (big sigh and rolling of eyes, knowing this needs to be sorted π). Pain in the Swiss!!!
