💬 Ever wanted to sit down with some of your RCSI classmates for a catch-up? That's exactly what our Classmates in Conversation video and podcast series is all about!
🎥 Over the past few years we've gathered friends together and recorded their reminiscences. Most recently we shared our final episode of our current season, with three graduates from the Class of 2010 - Dr Aoife Doyle, Dr Katayoun Lotfi and Dr Daniel Joyce.
They came together to celebrate their fifteen-year reunion, and shared their memories of starting at RCSI, from making lifelong friends on Day 1, to the warmth of RCSI staff, the joy of Results Day, and staving off the wet Irish weather with hot ports in The Swan!. All three agreed that their training at RCSI has stood to them since moving on to their respective roles, and they're already looking forward to their return to campus in 2030!

RCSI has announced the election of Professor Michael Kerin as the new President of the College. Professor Kerin takes up office following the College’s biennial Council Elections.
A consultant general surgeon with a special interest in breast and endocrine cancer, Professor Kerin is deeply committed to the integration of academic surgery into healthcare delivery and clinical practice. This has been evident through his leadership roles as Professor and Head of the Department of Surgery at University of Galway and Director of the Cancer Managed Clinical Academic Network (MCAN) for HSE West and North West.
Mr David Moore, consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon at Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin, Tallaght University Hospital and Blackrock Health, has been elected Vice-President.
Speaking on his appointment, Prof. Michael Kerin said: “It is a privilege to be elected as President of the College, an institution that has championed patient-focused surgical care, safeguarded professional standards and led the field of surgery in Ireland for over 240 years.
“Throughout my term as President, I aim to further develop collaboration between academia and clinical practice, including supporting the objectives of the Irish Surgical Research Collaborative. I am committed to supporting practising surgeons nationwide, increasing access to improved surgical infrastructure and nurturing and empowering our surgical trainees as they are the future leaders of our profession.”

🤔 We know that 'the Green' holds a lot of memories for RCSI alumni, but how much do you know about the history of RCSI's nearest green space?
🌳 Why not join the Alumni Team for our next Lunchtime event - a historical walking tour of St Stephen's Green, with !
📜 A place with a very special resonance for RCSI Alumni, St Stephen’s Green has its own fascinating history, from its origins as a marshy piece of common ground in the thirteenth century to its transformation as a destination for fashionable society five hundred years later. Our guides will cover significant milestones in the park’s history, such as the gifting of the Green by Lord Ardiaun to the people of Dublin and the events of the Easter Rising in 1916.
⚕️ There are numerous medical points of interest to note nearby too, from the medieval l***r house which later provided the site for Mary Mercer’s hospital, to the establishment of St Vincent’s Hospital in the 1830s by the Sisters of Charity.
🏛️ From an architectural perspective St Stephen’s Green is surrounded by some of Dublin’s finest buildings, from Iveagh House, designed by Richard Castle in 1736, to Newman House, the University Church and RCSI’s own historic home at number 123. Fittingly our tour will start and end at the Green’s latest architectural addition – RCSI's new campus building at 118 St Stephen’s Green
📅 When: Thursday 25 June, 12:30pm
📍 Where: Attendees should meet the Alumni Team at the Reception Desk on the ground floor of 118 St Stephen's Green (enter via Humanarium)
