So often, difficulties can be attributed to the disability (diagnostic overshadowing), and so many mental health issues rely on self-report, that can be difficult for people with communication difficulties. This means people may not always receive the mental health support they need. So this , stay aware, stay curious - could mental health issues be impacting on somebody?

We are delighted to welcome Dr Manus Moynihan for our upcoming lunchtime talk series on Wed 23rd January at 1pm on zoom. Dr. Moynihan is a Senior Clinical Psychologist and Systemic Psychotherapist at St. Michael's House, and will provide an insightful overview of CAMHS-ID (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in Intellectual Disability). Dr Moynihan will explore the unique aspects of working within CAMHS-ID and the role that psychology can play in supporting children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities and their families.

Additionally, Dr Moynihan will present a case study detailing his work with a family referred to CAMHS-ID. He will discuss his approach using systemic and social constructionist frameworks, illustrating how these therapeutic models can guide practice in effectively supporting families where a child has complex emotional and behavioural concerns.
