I know it's not a castle, but it's undeniably very English! I visited Snowshill Manor, in the Cotswolds, last Friday.
It's a beautiful old manor, built of warm coloured local stone, filled with eccentric collectibles.
The gardens boast a dove-cote. Well worth a visit!

Exploring English Castles: A Book Review I enjoyed your post immensely. Living in Canada and having never visited the British Isles, I suppose I have a rather romanticized version in my head of castles but to visit one in person is on my bucket list!
