⭐ Exciting news for road safety and lifesaving skills: European Driving License Directive to Include Compulsory First Aid and CPR Training!
📌 European legislation will require all new drivers across the region to complete first aid and CPR training as part of their driver’s education and theory test. This decision is a massive step forward in preparing drivers for emergency scenarios on the road and beyond.
💯 The European Parliament’s Transport Committee adopted the provisional agreement on the Driving License Directive on 15 May, which includes this lifesaving requirement.
📅 What’s next?
✅ The agreement now moves to the European Parliament’s Plenary and the Council for a final vote, before being officially adopted in the Official Journal of the EU. Once adopted, Member States will have four years to implement the new rules.
💙 The European Resuscitation Council warmly welcomes this milestone, which reflects years of advocacy for stronger first-aid education. ❤️

A personal congratulations to Kieran O Brien, Irish School of Excellence on winning an RSA Leading Light award for vulnerable road users. Kieran has been runs road safety classes for transition years in secondary schools. These include practical training on scooters and in cars. As well as basic mechanics and the drunk goggles.

I'm keeping a manual, dual control car for hire by ADIs whose regular car is temporarily off the road. I live in Swords so it's handy for anyone in Finglas, Raheny, Mulhuddart, Navan or Drogheda.
