A special moment today as our Senior Case Manager Amanda passed leadership of the recovery group to our new Case Manager David!

Thank you for your dedication, kindness, and guidance throughout the last 12 months. Best of luck to you both as this new chapter begins.

Amanda would also like to wish the facilitators and participants all the best in the future and is very thankful for their cooperation and participation in the group!

Today, our staff members, Peter and Brian, went out onto the streets of Rome with Fondazione Villa Maraini Mobile Street Units. These units provide valuable services to drug users and the wider community. They provide syringes, plus baby food and milk to substance users. They provide condoms, hepatitis and HIV testing to the Transgender community and people involved in Prostitution. They administer naloxone to anyone they see who overdose. They also walk around the community to retrieve all used syringes that have been thrown in local streets and parks. Thank you Villa Maraini for your hospitality.

Our staff members, Peter and Brian, thank the staff in Fondazione Villa Maraini, in Rome, for showing them around their service yesterday, as part of their Erasmus trip. This service has a range of services for people recovering from addiction, ranging from multiple harm reduction supports to an Alternative to Detention Centre, which provides Therapeutic Treatment to men, in place of a prison sentence.

Chrysalis staff visited Medicos de Mundo Consumption Van, which operates in various locations from Monday to Sunday. This service permits clients to inject safely from the local neighbourhoods.

The team consists of 2 nurses, 2 psychologists, one peer support worker and one social worker per van.

This service takes a harm reduction approach, providing toiletries and sexual health products along with tea, coffee, and biscuits, and, most importantly, a friendly welcome.

The van holds space for 2 clients. While people wait, it gives the team time to build relationships with individuals, and some would require a needle exchange.

Staff had a chance to chat with clients & experience the environment!
