Improving the health literacy of Roma people is at the center of the project "Help to Opportunities", co-funded under the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, which we are currently implementing. Studies show that Roma people often face significant challenges in accessing healthcare services, which can result in poor health outcomes, higher morbidity and mortality rates, and health disparities. Language and cultural barriers can make it difficult for them to understand medical advice, making it essential to provide them with the necessary knowledge and skills to communicate effectively with healthcare providers. By empowering Roma people to take an active role in their own healthcare and promoting healthy behaviors, health literacy can help prevent disease and improve overall well-being. These are some of the topics we will discuss at our upcoming transnational meeting in Portugal next week as we prepare to organize learning activities for members of the Roma community. Stay tuned!
