On this International Women’s Day we celebrate all those in the Edmund Rice world championing women’s rights and working for gender equality.

ERD Chief Executive Fiona Dowling is pictured at the Christian Brothers Development Office, West Africa Area Seeds of Change project in Sierra Leone. This project works with 100 women in Mabureh Village to increase their food security and financial independence through sustainable livelihoods.

ERD wishes to contract a consultant to support our Locally-Led Development capacity building initiative this year. Closing date: Feb 27.

In September, three leaders from ER development projects attended the 2025 Pan-African Faith and Gender Justice Conference at St. Paul’s University in Limuru, Kenya. Clalffin Achimba from Edmund Rice Eldoret Empowerment Program, Julie Kibii from Edmund Rice Catholic Education Centre and Sammy Muga from Edmund Rice Centre Nairobi participated in the gathering to explore how faith, theology and community leadership can become transformative tools for social reconciliation, gender justice and violence prevention.

We’re delighted to present the 2025 Edmund Rice Advent Campaign for schools, which highlights two important ER projects: The Centro Hermano Manolo in Bolivia and the Girls Empowerment project in Sierra Leone.

The materials were developed in collaboration with Edmund Rice England are available for use in schools.
