ShoutOut is a community of volunteers and activists committed to improving life for LGBTQ+ people by sharing personal stories and educating school students, parents & guardians, teachers, youth workers and workplaces on LGBTQ+ issues. Today marks a significant moment in Ireland's journey towards LGBTQI+ equality.

The Dáil has passed legislation establishing a Disregards Scheme for people convicted under Ireland's former anti-gay laws, helping to remove the lasting consequences of convictions that should never have existed in the first place.

While no legislation can undo the harm caused by decades of criminalisation, this is an important step towards recognising historic injustices and providing long-overdue redress.

We want to acknowledge the tireless work of the LGBT Restorative Justice Campaign and all those who campaigned for this change over many years.

Progress is possible because people continue to speak up, organise, and advocate for a fairer Ireland.

This month we joined other Rethink Ireland's Headstart Fund awardees for Storytelling Workshop with Sam Curtain, a fantastic and interactive session where we explored how we share the story of the work we do. It was inspiring to hear about the incredible impact being made by organisations supporting young people across Ireland.

As one of the final events under this grant, it feels especially meaningful to reflect on how much we’ve gained from being part of a fund that supports mental health initiatives for young people and has helped us continue supporting young LGBTQI+ communities across the country 🇮🇪🩷
