We're incredibly grateful to Bronwyn from Wild Wellness Sauna, based at the beautiful Garrettstown Beach in Co. Cork, for her generous donation of wonderful handmade candles to Spinal Injuries Ireland.

Bronwyn's mother, Mary, is one of our service users. Following Mary's CES diagnosis, her family has received support and assistance from us, and they wanted to give something back in appreciation.

These beautiful candles will be used as spot prizes at upcoming events and fundraisers, helping us continue our work supporting people living with spinal cord injuries across Ireland.

Today, Spinal Injuries Ireland is proud to join with No Wait Card Ireland, the Irish Cancer Society, The Rotunda Hospital, Crohn’s & Colitis Ireland, The Continence Foundation of Ireland, Maria Crowe, and advocates across the country to mark No Wait Card Awareness Day 2026.

For many people living with a spinal cord injury, immediate access to a toilet is not a convenience – it is a medical necessity. Challenges with bladder and bowel management are a reality for many in our community, and the fear of not being able to access a toilet quickly can create significant stress, anxiety, and barriers to everyday life. Bringing five organisations together to raise awareness of urgent toilet access is something we can all be proud of. Together, we are shining a light on the daily challenges faced by thousands of people living with hidden conditions.

For many years, Spinal Injuries Ireland has provided No Wait Cards to our members and advocated for greater awareness and understanding of their importance. While the need for urgent toilet access is often not visible, the impact on those affected can be profound. In partnership with Coloplast, we have developed a discreet, wallet-sized No Wait Card that can help people access toilet facilities more quickly and confidently when out in public.

Today also highlights the importance of the proposed legislation brought forward by Mark Wall TD, which seeks greater recognition and legal standing for No Wait Cards in Ireland.

We believe that everyone should be able to go about their daily lives with dignity, confidence, and peace of mind. By raising awareness of the No Wait Card, we can help create a more understanding and inclusive society for people living with spinal cord injuries and others who rely on urgent toilet access.

We were delighted to welcome ONWARD Medical to both our Resource Centres in Dublin and Cork last week.

A huge thank you to Veronica Garcia for presenting the ONWARD ARC-EX and providing five of our service users with the opportunity to trial this innovative technology firsthand.

The ONWARD ARC-EX is the first FDA-cleared non-invasive spinal cord stimulation platform, designed to support people living with spinal cord injury.

It was fantastic to see our service users experience the potential benefits of this groundbreaking technology and learn more about the advances being made in rehabilitation and recovery.
