€24 million has been approved for the final phase of Drogheda's Port Access Northern Cross Route.
The funding will allow work to proceed on the long-awaited railway crossing that will complete the route linking the M1 to the Termonfeckin Road.
The project is expected to unlock almost 2,000 homes in Drogheda, while funding has also been approved for Leonard's Cross and the Ash Walk Link Road in Ardee.
Mayor Declan Power has described the project as a "game-changer" for the town.

Heading into town on Saturday? Plan ahead.
Rolling street closures will be in place between 11am and 1pm for the Drogheda Pride Parade, which gets underway from King Street Car Park at 12 noon.
Motorists should expect temporary delays and follow directions from event stewards and An Garda Síochána.
