One of our favourite typefaces; Garamond is an old style serif based on the typefaces first created by the french printer Claude Garamond in the 16th century. He was the first one to deviate from purely hand letters style letters that would read better when printed. The letterforms were more delicate which both allowed the ink to bleed on the page without overly distorting the words and used less ink. Garamond is considered as one of the most versatile typefaces available today and certainly one of the most attractive and graceful in print. Didot is a group of typefaces named after the famous French printing and type producing Didot family. The classification is known as modern, or Didone. The most famous Didot typefaces were developed in the period 1784–1811. Firmin Didot cut the letters, and cast them as type in Paris.
