Mahon CDP runs a resource centre, childcare facility and a youth centre. It provides employment, training, educational & social opportunities.
It provides employment, training, educational & social opportunities and undertakes targeted work with various groups including: unemployed youth, young fathers, intergenerational work and Older people. Mahon CDP has over 30 employees and has its own Community Employment Training Scheme (CE Scheme)

Lord Mayor, Fergal Dennehy, yesterday hosted a performance of the Mahon Song- One Voice. The idea came from Mahon Learning Neighbourhood and the lyrics were inspired by contributions from members of the Mahon Community, young and old. Rory Mc Govern created the song and pupils of Gaelscoil Mhachan as well as members from Mahon CDP Singing for Wellbeing Group were recorded for the song. A very proud day for Mahon being the first community in the City to have its own song.
