THE OTHER SIDE OF THE GRIND
People see the gigs, social media posts, music releases,
the dark dance floors.
But what they don’t see is the exhaustion, the self-doubt, the nights where nothing sounds right, the events that don’t go as planned, the moments where you wonder—is this even worth it?
I’m djing for last 27 years and I’ve been pushing gigs in Cork city as Evo and what not for continues 14.
I won’t lie, there were times I questioned everything and I still do. Times when the turnout was low, the energy was off, or
I spent hours in the studio only to scrap everything.
The burnout, the frustration, the voice in your head telling you you’re not good enough—it’s all real.
But here’s the thing.
The love for the music always brings me back and that’s Trueschool explained in its core.
Not hype, not validation—just that deep connection to sound, to rhythm, to the energy that this music creates.
That’s what kept me going when discipline had to take over and where motivation failed.
Because passion alone won’t carry it to be honest.
Talent alone won’t sustain you.
It’s the commitment to keep showing up, even when it’s hard, that makes the difference.
Some nights, the music feels like the only thing that understands you.
Some crowds, some moments, remind you exactly why you started in the first place.
And in those moments, all the struggle, all the setbacks, all the doubt—it’s worth it. Every single time
