Tea Ceremony at Togher Community Gardens for ‘Global Gardens’, this year’s Cork Midsummer Festival! Beautiful experience🌿

Happy to have attended a tea event at Cork City Library at the weekend by Confucius Institute UCC. One Leaf, A Journey into China—Chinese Tea Culture Experience Day. It was a chance to immerse in tea ceremony, incense making demonstration and tea tasting.

It is not often that I get a chance to learn from other tea teachers and tea enthusiasts living in Cork. I often have to travel far and wide or to connect with tea practitioners and tea friends online. So it was great to know there was a tea teacher travelled to Ireland from Shanghai! Chill out tea day🍵

Do you agree? Would you also choose tea?

At our gatherings, I love asking people what they love to drink, is it tea, is it coffee? If tea, what kind of tea?

Not only is because I love to know what my guests love drinking but also I think in some ways our choices tell us something about ourselves. Even the way we choose tells us a lot about ourselves. Do we always choose something intentionally, or are we just following the trend or just for convenience? Do we know what we are drinking? Do we like what we are drinking? How does our drinks make us feel in the body and how does it make us feel in our mind?

Of course, we don’t often ask those questions when we’re out and about, some of us are counted as lucky to even sit down quietly for a cuppa! …But this is exactly what mindful tea experience has taught me…to slow down, to sip gently, to take notice, to let the questions arise and to become aware. It is something to be experienced and hard to be described…love to know what you would like to choose?

For every tea ceremony & creative gathering, we would use tea as a natural plant for wellbeing and healing🌿

This May Sunday festival, we have tasted some exclusive teas that I have sourced from Wuyishan and Tongmuguan in rural China, including Jin Jun Mei and Da Hung Pao, also other white teas and Puerh teas. Each tea has different characteristics and wellbeing benefits. I’m a bit of a tea nerd but what I love most about tea is how it can connect people in the most natural and authentic way🍵

If you’re also interested in this mindful way of tea experience, we would love to have you in our next gathering and I love to hear what kind of teas are you most drawn to and maybe you can discover some new tastes to enjoy at the same time🌿
