Doing Reformer Pilates alone at home isn’t the same 👀

In a class, you get instructor guidance so you’re not just guessing your way through movements - you’re actually being coached in real time resulting in better form, better control and better results.

You also benefit from form correction, where small adjustments from your instructor can completely change how effective (and safe) the exercise is.

On top of that, you’re working at the right intensity for your body, rather than either underdoing it or pushing too far without realising.

And then there’s the social side - moving in a class keeps you motivated, connected, and supported, which plays a big role in long-term consistency and overall well-being.

Two simple drills you can do with just a brush to improve your golf swing this summer ⛳️

Upper back rotation: place a brush behind your head and gently rotate side to side. This helps open up the upper back and improve your range of movement.

Advanced rotation with hip bend: add a slight hip hinge as you rotate. This more closely mimics your golf swing and helps improve your form and control on the course.

Save this before your next round 🏌️‍♂️

You shouldn’t be feeling your lower back more than your glutes during a shoulder bridge ❌

A common mistake we see is letting the knees fall out, which can cause the lower back to overwork during the movement.
Instead, focus on:

✨ Sliding the ribs toward the pelvis
✨ Engaging your glutes & abs
✨ Keeping a straight line from your shoulders ->hips -> knees

As you roll back down, keep the knees tucked in and lower the spine one piece at a time - imagine gently squashing a row of grapes beneath your spine 🍇

This helps create control, stability & length through the movement while reducing strain on the lower back.

If you’re struggling to get the movement right at home, contact us on 023 885 9972 or head to the link in bio.

Pilates isn’t just for women 👀

It’s for absolutely everybody!!

While strength training is great for building power, Pilates is an amazing way to build endurance, stability & control all of which play a huge role in overall performance and injury prevention.

Improving your trunk control, balance & stability can help you move better, lift better & reduce your risk of injury both in and outside the gym.
Adding Pilates into your routine could be the missing piece 👏

Do you know what these are??

These are vaginal pessaries - a non-surgical treatment option for pelvic floor support.

At Max Physio & Pilates, we offer vaginal pessaries at most of our locations.

These removable silicone or rubber devices are designed to be worn internally to help support weakened pelvic floor muscles, tissues or organs.

They can be particularly beneficial for those experiencing:

✨ Pelvic organ prolapse
✨ Stress urinary incontinence
✨ Pregnancy-related incontinence

Pessaries can be a great option for those looking to avoid surgery, or for individuals who may not be suitable for surgical treatment.
