HOW TO KEEP YOUR CARPET LOOKING BRAND NEW
Step 1: Regular care
Frequent vacuuming will help keep soil and debris from becoming embedded in carpet. Soil can pit and scratch carpet fibers, so regular vacuuming helps maintain that new look. High traffic areas should be vacuumed two to five times weekly. Light traffic areas may require twice weekly vacuuming, but don't forget to go over non-traffic areas like corners once a week to keep dust from building up.
Use a vacuum with adjustable brushes that will suit the type of carpet and the area you are cleaning. Use a crevice tool to get into corners and a be**er brush attachment when working on stairs. Regular vacuuming not only picks up dust, dirt and surface fragments on your carpet but will fluff up the fibers to counteract daily wear. Choose a vacuum setting to match the height of the carpet so it will clean efficiently without damaging fibers. Let your strokes overlap so you cover the entire carpet. Use the angled nozzle attachment to clean along baseboards where dust settles. Replace the vacuum bag or empty the canister when it is 2/3 full so your machine works safely and more efficiently, and periodically check the hoses and attachments for obstructions that might impair their function. You want to get the most clean with the smallest effort!
Step 2: Goodbye snags and dents
If sprouts or tufts — those snags that show above the carpet surface — appear, don't pull them! Clip or cut them with scissors. You can remove a dent caused by furniture placement by dampening the area with a white rag, then heating the spot with a hair dryer as you "rake" the carpet with your fingers. Do not let the heat make direct contact with the carpet.
Step 3: Deal with spots and stains
Spots and stains are inevitable no matter how careful you are. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations on cleaning, and never rub your carpet surface too hard as you can damage the twist of the fibers. Good maintenance is mandatory and will keep your carpet looking as beautiful as the day that it was installed!

One of the key and most talked about reasons for choosing a stove over an open fire is that stoves are 3 if not 4 times more efficient. What other advantages are there in owning a stove?
An open fire is only around 20% efficient as most of the heat is lost straight up the chimney. In comparison a cast iron stove can be up to 80% efficient.
What does this actually mean to you? In fuel terms, you will use less fuel in your stove (ideally up to 60%) and derive more heat from it - save money, save fuel and stay warm. As you are burning less fuel to get more heat, CO2 levels are also reduced.
Combing heating systems is another advantage of having a stove in your home. If you already have a gas or oil fired central heating system, you can cut your costs by having a dual heating system. When the stove is lighting it will heat your radiators and water so there is no need to have your oil or gas heating system on at the same time.
Another benefit of a stove is that the flueing will seal the chimney, making your room warmer even when the stove isn't lighting.

Alternate Fuels in the Home
Finding efficient and reliable alternate source of power can be very handy at times that the traditional source of electricity fails. In case of widespread power outage due to hurricanes or other natural catastrophe such as earthquakes, you can rely on alternative fuels in the home to light up your house and provide heat or electricity.
Another benefit to using non-traditional energy is the ability to sdave on traditional energy bills. Sometimes, it may be expensive to use alternative sources of power but these methods eventually pay for themselves and significantly reduce or eliminate your electric bill. It is also friendlier to the environment to use natural sources of energy.
The right kind of alternative energy for your home will depend on the natural resources available in your area. The climate in your city will also matter. Study your options before deciding on the kind of green energy that you should apply to in your household. See what natural resources are abundant in your area such as sunlight or continuous running water.
Biomass as a source of energy in your house can usually be used for heating or as energy to power your cooking stove. You can use it to warm up your bath or to cook food with. This form of fuel comes from plants, crops, trees, grass or wood waste. Although they can pollute the air when used as fuel, they are still considered less harmful than traditional fossil fuels.
Solar panels on your roof or yard can power up your household. Depending on the amount of panels you install, you can heat water, have lights, or cool your home and run appliances. This is the ideal alternative source of energy if you have a sunny climate in your area. The battery cells in the panels can store power for days when the sun fails to shine.
If you live near running water from a river or creek, consider using Hydro energy that gets its power from running water that pass through pipes installed in moving bodies of water. This is a better alternative to solar power if you live near running water and do not get enough sunlight to power up solar panels. It also provides more consistent energy.
Another option that is dependent on the climate is Wind power. If you live in a windy area such as locations near the ocean, this may be a good choice of an alternative source of fuel. Although wind energy is often connoted with large turbines, there are smaller varieties that can be used in residential areas. A single 23 foot turbine can power up an entire house.
Applying alternative fuels in the home can help save the environment by using natural resources that are also renewable. The environment is not damaged by using wind, water or the sun to produce fuel. It is also a reliable source of electricity when traditional sources of power fail unexpectedly. Fossil fuels are not just harmful to the planet. They are also becoming too expensive and will eventually run out. Now is the time to consider using alternate fuels.
While you are waiting to adopt these alternate sources, make sure your existing chimneys and flues are up to standard. Call Master Clean on 086 260 8220
