TRIDIUM TO THE SACRED HEARTS โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ

You are invited to participate in a Tridium to the Sacred Hearts, taking place from Wednesday 10th June, to Friday 12th June 2026 at 7.27pm each evening.๐Ÿ™

The Tridium is three days of prayer and preparation for the Feast of the Sacred Heart on Friday.

โค๏ธ At the 10am Mass on Wednesday, June 10th, we will reflect on the Sacred Heart of St. Joseph.

โค๏ธ The following day, Thursday, June 11th, the 10am Mass will celebrate the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

โค๏ธ On Friday, June 12th we celebrate the solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Did you know that the theological virtues of 'Faith, Hope and Love' are reflected in the three 'Sacred Hearts of Jesus, Mary and Joseph'.
Each evening of these days dedicated to the Sacred Hearts there will be 33 minutes of Exposition and silent prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. Exposition will begin with the ringing of the bell at 7.27pm and end at 8pm.

All are very welcome. ๐Ÿ™

Our church in Ashbourne, like many churches in Ireland, has a side altar with a prominent Sacred Heart statue with our Lord pointing to his heart to highlight his mission to reveal God's love. The candles at this altar are red to reflect this feast.

CELEBRATING CORPUS CHRISTI โœ๏ธ

๐Ÿ™The importance of Mass.

The feast of the Body and Blood of Jesus took place today.
We reflected on the great sacrament of the Eucharist and the Mass described in Vatican II documents as 'the summit and source of the Christian Life'.
There is no better way to celebrate this church solemnity than to examine how we participate at Mass. Pope Leo XIV emphasises that Holy Communion is built through prayer and a constant commitment to conversion. Mass should always be celebrated by priest and people with heartfelt devotion. Out of respect for Jesus' Body in Blood we are always asked to come to Mass on time and to rid our minds of distractions, so that we can worthily pray and listen to the Word of God.
At Communion time we should be conscious of the blessed Sacrament being given to us. We say the word 'Amen' and consume the Blessed Sacrament welcoming Jesus 'under our roof'.

๐Ÿ™The Importance of Eucharistic Adoration.

Alongside Mass Prayer before the Blessed Sacrament is paramount.
The Eucharist is reserved in the tabernacle in Ashburne Church and our church is open each day for private prayer from 9am until 8 p.m.
Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place each Thursday in our Ashbourne Parish from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. we encourage people of faith to continue to pray before the Lord before the Blessed Sacrament.

TRINITY SUNDAY, May 31st 2026

,God so loved the world that he gave his only Son.'
John 3:16

This Sunday is the Feast of the Blessed Trinity and we reflect on our God being made up of three persons.
It is a central mystery of our faith. St.Patrick cleverly used the shamrock to explain to our ancestors how God is the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. It is good to make the sign of the Cross in the name of the Trinity at the beginning and end of each day.
When you make the sign of the Cross do it slowly: pronounce carefully the names of the persons of the Trinity. In doing so, you bring alive today's feast day. ๐Ÿ™
