Five Months Later And Over 3500 Pubs Still Remain Closed And Like Our Own Here In - Some Will Never Reopen Again.

The Government Asked Us For Help Five Months Ago And Now We Are Asking For That Help To Be Returned By Offering Us

We Need Major Investment And Help For Our Sector To Survive The Next Five Months And Beyond!

Our Families And Staff Need Support.

But Due To Government Advice, Pubs Are To Remain Closed For The Forcible Future.

Musicians, Takeaways, Taxi Services, Suppliers, Etc Are All Out Of Work Or Have Seen A Dramatic Drop In Income.

So This Morning We Should Have Been Reopening Our Doors After Being Closed For 18 Weeks Due To Covid-19.

But Government Guidelines Changed And Now Pubs Doors Will Hopefully Reopen On August 10th 2020 - Except For Ours.

It’s With A Heavy Heart We Have To Tell You That Our Doors Will Unfortunately
Remain Closed Here In Carrickmacross. 😞

This Hard Decision Is Due To Many Factors Beyond Our Control - One Of Them Was Out Of Our Hands - Being That This Old Girl You See In The Photos Below Has Been Standing On The Main Street Of Carrickmacross, Longer Than Any Of Us Can Remember And This Has Left Her Very Tired And In Need Of A Big Investment And Great Repair.

As You All Know We Were Always Updating The Interior Of The Pub As Trends Changed, We Changed With Them And Just Before Covid 19 Arrived, We Were Putting In Plans To Update The Bar Once Again, But This Was Just Like Always - Covering Over The Cracks And Strains Of An Old Building!

Unfortunately With Us Leaving - This Old Girl Will Remain Empty For The Foreseeable Future Without Investment From It’s Owner Overseas.

Another Factor Of This Decison Was Due To The Nightlife Trade In Carrickmacross Has Slowly Faded Away This Past Few Years Going From Having To Close Our Doors On A Saturday Night At Half 10 Due To Full Capacity To Some Saturdays A Couple Of Years Later Having Only A Handful Of People Out On The Town.

Nevertheless - We Want To Thank
Each And Everyone Of You, The Regulars, The Blow Ins And The Passers By For Such An Amazing 10 Years Since We Came Back To The Main Street Of Carrickmacross! 💓

Thank You For The Laughs, The Good Times, The Late Nights And For Sharing Your Special Moments With Us - Your Party’s, Engagements, Christenings, Weddings, Charity Events And Much Much More!

To The Musicians & DJ’s We’ve Had In Over The Years - Thank You Very Much For Helping Us Entertain The People Of Carrickmacross And Surrounding Areas - I Think This Is Where Most Of The Cracks Appeared From In The Building Over The Years 😂😂👏🏻

To The Other Businesses And Publicans In Carrickmacross - Thank You For The Support And Help Over The Years! The Future Is Going To Be Unknown, Difficult & Strange But If People Stay Local And Shop Local We Can All Get Through This Together! 🏘 🛍 🍻

To Our Regular Customers And Staff - From The Bottom Of Our Hearts We Want To Thank You All. Without Our Regulars And Staff We Would Have Nothing!

We Have Made Some Very Great Lifelong Friends Over The Years And Some Who We’ve Unfortunately Lost Along The Way Also And Although Our Doors May Be Closed Here In Carrickmacross Our Doors Will Remain Open In Ardee Where Myself, Frankie And Matthew Will Be There To Welcome You All If You Fancy A Daytrip (We Might Have To Get Daniel From Collins Coaches To Do A Special Regulars Day Pass 😉 🚌 🍻).

But Unfortunately, Like A Lot Of Events, Gatherings & Fundraisers This Year They Have All Been Postponed For A Year While We Deal With The Battle That Is Covid-19 Coronavirus! 😷

Unfortunately We Have Lost Friends, Family Members, Neighbours & Some Local Businesses To This Virus.
So Please This Bank Holiday Weekend
Stay Safe, Check In On Elderly Family & Neighbours, Enjoy The Beautiful Weather Together (From A Distance!) And Pretend We Are All Back To Some Sort Of Normality Because It’s The Little Things We Have All Taken For Granted In The Past!

Please Be Responsible When Leaving The House, When Out Walking Give Plenty Of Space To Other Walkers, When Out Shopping Keep The 2 Meter Distance Between You And Others And If We All Continue To Do This For The Next Few Weeks We Can All Join Together In The Next Couple Of Months And Hopefully Return To Some Form Of Normality! 💖
