KUE bakery

The Christmas season is coming and with it some exciting changes for our stores at KUE. Look out for a new sandwich, wrap and other yummy take away food items coming around holiday time! Also in the works: new bottled salad dressings, soups and possibly a to-go pizza selection in both KUE locations.

KUE has been on a mission to rid our cake selection of all imported fruits. We'd like to just use local selections. Check out some of our new fruit filled all Bali desserts! Organic strawberry with cream on biskuit, Burnt orange peel cake, Organic mulberry sugar free beet cake, and Gluten-free local mixed berry pie pictured here. But also available, Caramelized pineapple cheesecake, Organic strawberry cheesecake and Local berry pie. Yummmmm....

The KUE team has been doing a new menu and some training for a lovely cafe above Gunung Kawi: Kafe Kawi. In the next few weeks they will begin selling (KUE like) light meals, sandwiches, and appetizers, as well as an Indonesian menu with influences from around the archipelago. This is a great place to spend an afternoon, admiring one of the most beautiful views Bali has to offer, after a hike down into the valley to look at Gunung Kawi--a mysterious 11th century series of carved monoliths and Buddhist meditation chambers. And then of course, there's the food in the cafe to nibble on afterwards...try the Thai chicken salad!

New kitchen in Penastanan!
Coming on the first of June, KUE in Penastanan will now have a fully operational kitchen on site. Our menu will expand and we'll be able to offer more hot and cold meals as well as an expanded lunch and dinner menu!

Kue's newest menu now features a good number of vegan dishes, in response to some customer requests. Check out our Tempe Vietnamese noodle salad, Grilled Mediterranean vegetables on cous cous, Linguini with sundried tomato pesto, Smoked pepper stuffed with rice and grilled vegetables, and Hot and sour soup, just to name a few!

KUE Penestanan now has windows!!!! In response to complaints about road traffic, dust, pollution, etc, etc,... we've now installed a wall of windows in the cafe. Coming in June: we will be expanding into the empty space next store with a much larger kitchen and a full evening dinner menu! Yahoo!

KUE has been using COSMIC COFFEE in our cafe and selling four types of their beans in our store for the last year. They are truly a unique business, and their coffee is so amazing that we would like to introduce you to them here on Facebook. They've simply blown us and our customers away with the consistency and high quality and simple yumminess of their beans!
COSMIC COFFEE is a small sustainable livelihoods project in the Kintamani / Mt. Batur highlands, producing some of the best coffee in Bali. Shaded by citrus and hardwood trees, the Arabica coffee trees flourish in the fertile, volcanic soil, nourished by organic fertilizer and pure rain water.
Both a holy woman and a coffee farmer, Ibu Jero and her partners use traditional processes in their coffee growing, harvesting and roasting in order to support local villagers, protect the environment and cultivate their own distinctly rich, medium-bodied, delicately acidic coffee with a flavor profile of dark chocolate, pecans and citrus.

KUE has now joined the Wednesday Organic Market, hosted by Warung Sopa in Pengosekan. It's a beautiful, airy location, and a number of new sellers are starting to come regularly too!
