82% More Multi-Millionaires: How Indonesia Became the Ultimate Wealth Hotspot
Discover the booming countries setting records for new multi-millionaires in the last five years.
Despite wild political drama, soaring inflation, and interest rates that keep everyone on edge, global wealth creation is not just surviving; it is accelerating.
According to the 20th edition of the Knight Frank Wealth Report, the world’s population of ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs—people with 30 million dollars or more) shot up dramatically. Between 2021 and 2026, a staggering 162,191 people joined this elite club.
To put that into perspective, that is the equivalent of 89 brand-new multi-millionaires popping up every single day, bringing the global total to a massive 713,626.
So, where exactly is all this new money coming from, and where is it going?
The Engine vs. The Speedsters
The United States continues to be the absolute powerhouse of wealth creation, single-handedly generating 41% of all new UHNWIs over that five-year stretch. This massive surge lifted the US share of the world's richest people from 33% to 35%.
But while the US holds the crown for sheer volume, other fast-maturing economies are stealing the spotlight for raw speed.
India has been expanding at a breakneck pace, recording a 63% explosion in its super-rich population, with another 27% growth predicted by 2031.
Looking at the five-year growth rates, the real surprises are found in a few highly dynamic hotspots:
-Indonesia: +82% growth
-Saudi Arabia: +63% growth
-Poland: +63% growth
-Vietnam: +59% growth
Meanwhile, the Asia-Pacific region as a whole now commands nearly 31% of the world's ultra-wealthy population, with China comfortably holding its ground as the second-largest wealth hub on the planet.
Down under, Australia is also gearing up for a nearly 60% increase by 2031, thanks to deep economic diversification.
A Narrower, Safer Playing Field
What makes this wealth boom fascinating is how tight the circle is becoming. Because of heavy regulatory friction, changing tax laws, and global political volatility, private capital is becoming increasingly selective.
It is concentrating into a much smaller, highly exclusive group of cities that offer two specific things: massive opportunity and rock-solid predictability.
The modern ultra-wealthy are incredibly mobile, yet the list of places where they actually feel safe investing or raising their families has narrowed significantly.
To survive this complex economic landscape, sophisticated families are no longer putting all their eggs in one basket. Instead, they are spreading their bets across multiple strategic hubs simultaneously.
Having strong, simultaneous footholds in London, New York, Dubai, and Singapore has become the ultimate playbook to balance security, lifestyle, and market access.
The global billionaire count officially reached 3,110, with the Asia-Pacific region taking the largest slice of that pie.
Geopolitical shocks may continue to rock the headlines, but behind the scenes, private capital is proving remarkably resilient, profoundly reshaping the global map of wealth distribution in ways not seen in modern history.
