Utama Spice specializes in the development and manufacture of 100% natural beauty care products with

Welcome to Utama Spice, your number one choice for all natural Aromatherapy products! Our recipes have been developed using ancient Balinese medicinal knowledge to insure a product that does more than simply smell good and feel fantastic. We have spent over 2 decade studying ancient texts and developing formulas that change the way people think about and use personal care products. Our products have everything you need to help maintain young, youthful, healthy skin and nothing else. When you read the ingredients of our products you will notice that you do not need a PhD in Chemistry to understand what you are putting on, this is because we truly only use natural ingredients rather than naturally derived ingredients and other synthetics designed to cut manufacturing costs and create generic products that claim to be as good as the natural thing. Utama Spice is a Balinese based company with its roots deeply entrenched in Ancient Balinese Herbal medicine. Utama Spice was started in 1989 and incorporated in 2000 by Melanie Templer and Dayu Suci after they realized that the ancient Balinese medicinal herbal knowledge that has proven to provide both extremely powerful and effective medicines for the Balinese over the past hundreds of years is being pushed aside to make room for modern day medicines. This problem is further compounded by the fact that the medicinal herbs themselves are being lost as they are continually being replaced with cash crops, ornamental flowers, and villa development projects. With their focus on "giving people back their birth right" as Melanie and Dayu put it the duo set out to put an end to this self-perpetuating cycle by developing the best all natural products nature can provide. Shining a light on the magic and impotents of plants that has already been lost in so many parts of the world. To do this Melanie and Dayu make sure that every ingredient that goes into their recipes is of the highest of quality and maintain all of their healing properties. With the absence of binders, preservatives, and synthetics in Utama Spice products and through the use of high quality essential oils and other raw ingredients we are able to develop, produce, and supply our customers with an all-natural, highly effective, high quality product that is safe for the family. Philosophy:

We started as a micro family affair and have now grown to a small limited company employing around 20 people. We adhere to the famous Balinese cultural concept of TRI HITA KARANA, which commits us to respecting and working harmoniously with humanity, nature and the Divine. As a business, we have found a balance between generating an income from the herbs without damaging the environment in which they grow. We have done extensive research to support the local natural resource base and to enhance local farming skills in such areas as organic farming, bee farming and seaweed farming, it is these farming communities that produce the raw materials for our company's products. Production facilities:

At Utama Spice we take pride in developing and producing all natural beauty care products. To insure that we are successful with the development and production of our fantastic products we are continually making improvements to our production facilities, as well as insuring that we hire the right people for the job, including our own in house chemist who has a legal responsibility to insure that our facility, production methods, and production staff always maintain a slandered of excellence. The lower level of our factory where the manufacturing of our products takes place is a completely closed off sterile environment outfitted with stainless steal bench tops for easy cleaning, individual production spaces for each type of product to insure no cross contamination, and its own cleaning station to insure all the equipment used in the manufacturing process stays in a sterile environment. As we are still a relatively small production facility we are able to give our products the time and care needed for the creation of any fantastic product. To compliment our production facilities we have set up strict procedures for our production methods that insure the products and the raw materials for the products are checked at every stage of the process guaranteeing the highest quality. Our quality control procedures assign batch numbers to every ingredient used in our products giving us the ability to quickly trace, detect, and rectify any defect that might arise in the production process and make sure no other products have been affected. By maintaining these levels of quality the end result is a product so fresh and natural you will want to eat it, and why shouldn't you? At Utama Spice we know that your skin is your body’s biggest organ and should be treated as such. This is why when we make our products we think of it as making food for the skin rather then simply cosmetics. Our people:

As Utama Spice has grown throughout the years so has our need to employee more staff to help nurture and grow the development, with the majority of our staff being made up of young, local, independent women from the surrounding villages. Many of our employees have been with us from the beginning and have an excellent understanding of the product and of Balinese herbal techniques. With the majority of the staff being below the age of 30 Utama Spice plays host to an exciting and dynamic work environment encouraging comments, feedback, and ideas from all members of the staff no matter their position in the company or the qualification they hold. We have a very flat management structure with the leaders often standing side by side the other employees and getting involved, not only to insure things are getting done properly but also to insure they always understand the work place through the eyes of all employees and insure it maintains its friendly relaxed environment. Vision for the future:

Over the last decade Utama Spice has come along way from our humble beginnings and we are now planning the future for our next accomplishments. Over the next decade we envision:

· Build a environmentally friendly production facilities with a carbon neutral footprint.

· Become one of the leading authorities for the production and development of 100% natural body care products.

· Develop a wide distribution network across Indonesia, Asia and the rest of the world

· Continue to promote the use of natural body care products through various forms of media.

· Continue investing in the people and community around us.

Vintage feels like the sustainable choice.

But the journey behind it can be far more complicated.

Marina explains how secondhand clothing can be shipped across borders for sorting, often to lower labour cost countries, then sent back again for resale.

That means a piece of clothing can travel thousands of kilometres before it ever reaches the vintage rack.

So when we talk about secondhand fashion, should we also be talking about the carbon footprint behind the journey?

Some runs give you more than distance.

For Julien, running creates space to be alone with his thoughts, whether he is surrounded by nature, busy streets, or other runners.

And on the longer runs, something shifts.
Thoughts of family.
People he has lost.
Gratitude for a body that is able to move.
A quiet reminder that movement can connect us back to ourselves.

DITCH THE COVER UP.

Julien’s first half marathon was basically an accident.

A friend was running one.
Two days before, he said yes.
No proper preparation.
No race plan.
Just 21K and a questionable amount of confidence.

He suffered. He loved it. And somehow, the kids handing out sweets and fruit along the route helped get him through.
Sometimes the best stories start with saying yes before you have time to overthink it.

What is the most unprepared you have ever been for something?

For Julien, movement is a way back to connection.

He is a yoga instructor, writer, poet, runner, and in his own words, a recovering technologist.
After years in tech, he is choosing to live closer to people, nature, and the simple habits that make him feel more human.

Running has always been with him. In Ubud, it became a weekly rhythm of community, joy, and unity.
A reminder that movement is not just about performance.
Sometimes, it is about coming home to yourself.

DITCH THE COVER UP.

AI will agree with your label faster than a friend in a group chat.

In this clip, Dr. Piper Grant talks about the risk of asking AI to explain your attachment style, your patterns, or your pain without any human context.

Maybe it is insecure attachment.
Maybe it is protection.
That difference matters.

Have you ever let the internet diagnose you a little too quickly?

Sometimes the way we ask matters as much as the question itself.

Dr. Piper Grant shares why what questions can feel more open, curious, and safe than why questions.

Instead of making someone feel accused, they can create space to understand what is really happening underneath.

What question helps you feel more understood?

Sometimes we say we are okay before we are ready to say what is really going on.

In this clip, Dr. Piper Grant shares how therapists can notice the small nonverbal signs that open the door to a deeper conversation.

AI can be helpful. But it cannot see the tension in your body, the pause before an answer, or the pain behind saying everything is fine.

What helps you feel safe enough to go deeper?

FOMO can feel silly until you are the one feeling it.

Seeing people together, out, included, living a moment you were not part of can bring up comparison, jealousy, and that quiet feeling of not being enough.

Dr. Piper Grant talks about how social media changed the way we experience belonging.
Have you ever seen something online that affected your mood more than you expected?

Sustainability should be more than something printed on a booth wall.

It should change what we make, what we throw away, and who we choose to build with.
That is what we love about spaces like JIA CURATED.

Ahti rethinking the objects around us.
ChopValue turning discarded chopsticks into something useful again.
Sungai Watch pulling plastic back out of our rivers.

And Utama Spice asking the same question we have always asked. How do we make things without forgetting what they cost the earth?
