'Side-dish' ini adalah Banchan (반찬) yang artinya yah 'Side-dish', disajikan sebagai pendamping dari hidangan utama. Banchan adalah bagian integral dari makanan Korea, dari makanan sederhana rumahan sampai perayaan, Banchan selalu ada. Tapi lucunya, dijaman dulu, jumlah Banchan yang disajikan tergantung dari status sosial kita lho, antara 4 sampai 12 jenis - malah seorang raja bisa dapat 100 jenis, kebayangkan seberapa besar mejanya dan seberapa repotnya chef yang menyiapkannya?
