SEAFDEC/IFRDMD and Partners Join Climate Change Dissemination Activity

On 22 May 2026, staff members of SEAFDEC/IFRDMD, who also serve as staff of the Research Institute for Inland Fisheries and Extension (RIIFE), Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF), together with partners, participated in a climate change dissemination activity at Astri Al Ikhlas Islamic Senior High School, Tanjung Batu Seberang Village, Ogan Ilir Regency.

The activity was conducted as a follow-up to the recommendations and outcomes of the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on climate change organized by the Department of Marine Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Sriwijaya, under the Equity Program. It aimed to raise environmental awareness and improve students’ understanding of climate change through educational and collaborative activities.

Assistant Professor from Kasetsart University Visits SEAFDEC/IFRDMD

On May 21, 2026, Dr. Jitraporn Phaksopa, Assistant Professor at the Department of Marine Science, Faculty of Fisheries, Kasetsart University, Thailand, visited the offices of SEAFDEC/IFRDMD and the Research Institute for Inland Fisheries and Extension (RIIFE) in Palembang, Indonesia.

The visit was conducted as part of a series of activities under the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) organized by the Department of Marine Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Sriwijaya, Indonesia, through the EQUITY Program.

SEAFDEC/IFRDMD and Partners Join Ocean Literacy FGD at Universitas Sriwijaya

Staff members from SEAFDEC/IFRDMD and the Research Institute for Inland Fisheries and Extension (RIIFE) participated as resource persons and participants in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) organized by the Department of Marine Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Sriwijaya, through the EQUITY Program.

The FGD carried the theme “Strengthening Climate Awareness and Action Based on Ocean Literacy to Support SDG 13 through International Collaboration.”

*Kyushu University Professor Visits SEAFDEC/IFRDMD and RIIFE-MMAF *

Prof. Atsuhiko Isobe from Kyushu University, Japan, visited the office of SEAFDEC/IFRDMD and the Research Institute for Inland Fisheries and Extension (RIIFE), Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF), on 28 April 2026. The visit was part of his academic activities under the Visiting World Class Professor Program, funded by Universitas Sriwijaya.

Deputy Chief of SEAFDEC/IFRDMD Attends Studium Generale on Ocean Plastic Pollution at Universitas Sriwijaya

The Deputy Chief of SEAFDEC/IFRDMD, Mr. Toru Shimoda, together with SEAFDEC/IFRDMD staff, attended a Studium Generale on 28 April 2026 in Indralaya, South Sumatra, Indonesia. The event was organized by the Department of Marine Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Sriwijaya.

The Studium Generale featured Prof. Atsuhiko Isobe from Kyushu University, Japan, as the keynote speaker.
