Recap of the seminar talk show at Kisho Modelers Cup 2026: “The Evolution of Modelling—Past, Present, and Future.”

In this talk, I discussed how modelling culture has evolved over time and what has changed in the way we perceive value in the hobby. I also explored how creativity has expanded, branching into different forms of art and connecting with more people. The seminar closed with my hypothetical look at what the future of this modelling hobby could hold across four areas: mindset, methods, value (traditional modelling vs. technology), and culture.

Beyond craftsmanship, this is the first time I’ve done a 1-on-1 pitching idea presentation for the judging. I truly had a great time and enjoyed every creative story—the spirit behind every build. It’s something I hardly get from most competitions I’ve judged before.

This experience adds deeper value to the judging process and brings more clarity to every decision made for the winner. I believe this should be the way competitions allow: giving each participant a chance to share and explain their idea, their creative concept, and their process. Some even bring UV light torches to show the hidden effects on their builds, while others bring their idea sketches to show how the creativity transformed before reaching the final build.

I hope this could become the new norm for future competitions.
