Johann Sebastian Bach often viewed composition in this way: at the beginning of a work he would write J.J. – Jesu juva, meaning “Jesus, help!”, and at the end he would write S.D.G. – Soli Deo Gloria, meaning “To God alone be the glory.” These two abbreviations belong beautifully together: one expresses humility and dependence at the beginning, the other gratitude and confession at the end. In this way, the work became not only a composition, but also a prayer: “Jesus, help” — and when it was finished: “To God alone be the glory.”

At this year’s CST Leaders’ Conference, Paul Madsen (ACSI Europe) is leading a powerful session on Mission-Centred Leadership in the Christian School—challenging leaders to move beyond well-worded vision statements and into faithful, intentional practice.
