We're pleased to share a conversation with Michael Batty that we recorded on 21 February 2026 to mark International Mother Language Day.

In When Mother Tongues Go Wandering, Michael and I explore languages shaped by migration and long-distance mobility, with a focus on Jewish and Kurdish communities. We talk about how languages survive, shift across generations, interact with local languages, and what it means to learn them through family, community access, or study.

Cornish Revival - New release from Polyglot Conference Global 2025:
“Hal Wyn – his story and significance for the Cornish Revival” - Davyth Fear.

Ralph St Vincent Allin-Collins (bardic name Hal Wyn) was a leading figure of the 1920s–30s revival: a fluent writer-speaker who also claimed native-speaker upbringing. This talk looks at his output, the family backstory, and how credible that claim is - plus why he still matters today.
