FI-LUX - Structure - Details
Generative lamp design, texture and innovations in 3D ceramic printing.
Drawing inspiration from nature, especially from plant structures like leaf veins and the arrangement of flower petals, I can leverage aesthetic and functional advantages in lamp design. These forms help in directing and diffusing light, fitting harmoniously into interior spaces. In recent years, I have developed my 3D modeling skills, particularly with the use of Grasshopper, which allows me to create complex structures and textures. I conducted thorough research in three main areas: I developed a translucent material, improved my G-code writing skills, and enhanced the extruder of my ceramic printer. These techniques have helped me realize my own lamp designs by utilizing the combination of 3D printing and ceramics.

FI-LUX - Structure
Generative lamp design, texture and innovations in 3D ceramic printing.
During the development of ceramic printed lamps, the focus was on material research and improving programming skills to create a stable, printable material with an appropriate firing temperature. Using the Grasshopper program, you designed complex pattern systems and enhanced the printer’s extruder with DIY solutions. Eventually, you succeeded in creating stable and aesthetically pleasing lamp shades that highlight nature-centered design patterns and seamlessly fit into any interior space.

FI-LUX - Hanging lamp - Details
Generative lamp design, texture and innovations in 3D ceramic printing.
Open source extruders are available in various designs, thereby serving the wide-ranging needs of users. The development of the extruder is crucial for improving the efficiency and quality of ceramic 3D printing, as this component is responsible for the dosing and layering of clay. During development, I adapted the open source systems of Piotr Wasinowski, a Polish engineer and sculptor, which allow for the easy procurement of parts and customization of the printer, thus achieving optimal results during printing.

FI-LUX - Hanging lamp
Generative lamp design, texture and innovations in 3D ceramic printing.
Over the past few years, I participated in intensive material research in the field of ceramic 3D printing as part of Temesi Apol's COMPO course, where I further developed my own ceramic printing technology and material usage methods. During these experiments, I used a GAIA Multitool delta arm 3D printer to test various clay mixtures, focusing particularly on the production of translucent clays. These materials were optimized in terms of viscosity, moisture content, and plasticity to ensure stability during the printing process and to achieve the appropriate firing temperature.

I've expanded my knowledge in 3D ceramic printing with the help of Grasshopper! My specially generated G-code creates innovative patterns that break through traditional layering techniques with patterns shifted along the Z-axis. By densifying and thinning the lines, I've crafted special light transitions and structures that provide a stunning visual experience.
