Do you want to swim with whales???

I have some REALLY exciting news - from July to October I will be in Tonga working as a whale guide and taking people swimming with the whales 🥰

Even though I spent over a decade studying whales, only last year I got to swim with them, and it was the most incredible experience of my life!!!

Tonga is one of the few places in the world where you can do this, and I am stoked to be going back there, this time so I can take others to meet these magnificent beings 💙🐳

~ Meeting the Elephants ~

Being in the presence of such creatures is something I can only compare to being among the Whales. All my ‘scientific objectivity’ fades away. One feels so tiny next to these giants, yet truly seen. Not with the eyes, but with the soul. They seem to sense the energy in a profound way and carry ancient knowledge we cannot even comprehend.

Learning about the Elephants from the Elephant project coordinator Shivam I drew so many parallels with the Whales.
Both are highly intelligent species with complex emotional, social and cultural lives. They are crucial for the survival of many other species, by changing and enhancing their environments they boost biodiversity and play an important role of ecosystem engineers. They truly are the Guardians of Earth.
Much like the Whales, Elephants use a variety of sounds to communicate, some of which are audible to us and some which are not. For long-distance communication they produce low frequency infrasound which they detect through their feet. I was lucky to hear some of their higher frequency sounds and woah they are powerful! One day I shall make a song for them 🥰

Working in the field of nature conservation I often feel ashamed of belonging to the human species, but this time it really hit me. I couldn’t hold back my tears as I learned about the brutality of humans towards these innocent beings.
Yet, there are some wonderful humans who dedicated their lives to rescuing these poor Elephants and providing them with the best care for the rest of their lives. Such are the people working at Wildlife SOS. Thank you for giving me hope for humanity and for all that you do! 🙏

Celebrating my birthday in India! 🥳
In the last 10 years I traveled to 30 countries, but nothing could have prepared me for this. India is EVERYTHING you could have ever & never thought of!!!

Not even two weeks in, but what a trip is has already been! Humbled is an understatement... It is impossible to put into words everything that happened, I am still adjusting to it all, one day at a time..

The first week in Delhi was total chaos, nothing familiar whatsoever, my body, mind and soul struggled in this strange reality, I had a meltdown of all meltdowns 🥴

A couple of beautiful things happened in this week thought. I went to see Taj Mahal and wooooah what an incredible monument of love and craftsmanship! 😍

But even more incredible, something I will never forget, was meeting the Elephants. One of the most profound and surreal experiences of my life, I will write a separate post about this dream encounter ✨ 🐘✨

Now I am in Goa and slowly getting back to myself. Sea Mamma is doing her magic 🌊😌💙

Biggest thanks to Abhiart for looking after me and always having my back! You are the most wonderful creature and I am so lucky to have you in my life 💙🐳🌈

Congratulations to Miroslav, as I just learned that this was an open call photo contest and his photos were selected amongst many that were submitted. In total they selected 28 photographs which ‘best represent the power of concert & music photography’. Even though no photo can fully represent the immense power of concerts, or music in general, this one really captured the feeling I have when music is flowing through me 🎶💜🎶

It was taken during my performance at Multimedijalni kulturni centar as part of the ’Novi Sum’ program - forward-thinking concept in which the audience not only gets to enjoy the music, but also learn about the creative process behind it. On Friday evening I played a music set, and then on Saturday I gave a workshop in which I explained my process and inspiration behind creating and playing music.

Of course I didn’t miss the opportunity to talk about my research on epic songs and cultures of the great Whales, whom I have to thank for my entire music career, and soooo much more! 🙏🐳💙

Yet, throughout human history, being a woman was incredibly difficult. It was quite the opposite of being celebrated, let alone worshipped as it should be.

Even though it comes with endless challenges, I am grateful to be one. Embracing the darkness and the light that comes with it.

And I am so very grateful to all the amazing women that were here before me. Remember that we are all their children.
