FP7 Project

IASON Project has the ultimate goal to establish a permanent and sustainable Network of scientific and non-scientific institutions, stakeholders and private sector enterprises belonging in the EU and third countries located in two significant areas: The Mediterranean and the Black Sea regions. The main focal points of the project will be the usage and application of Earth Observation (EO) in the following topics:

-climate change
-resource efficiency
-raw materials management

"The IASON FP7 project, a coordination action within the FP7 ENV program, concluded its work in May 2015 having achieved all of the project objectives successfully. IASON project understanding the need to promote use of Earth Observation data for the environment had the ultimate goal to unlock the potential and create a permanent and sustainable network of academic, governmental and industry stakeholders primarily in the Mediterranean and Black sea regions."

IASON FP7 project launches Black Sea Region Workshop & Caravan events in Batumi, Georgia 30th & 31st October 2014

The IASON project consortium is happy to announce the launch of its second regional workshop and Caravan training event setting the focal point at the Black Sea Catchment. IASON Workshop 2 and Caravan Events will be held at the Radisson Blu hotel in Batumi, Georgia, on 30-31 October 2014. The events are co-organized by the EC FP7 IASON Project Consortium (hosted by Georgian partner GIS & RS Consulting Center GeoGraphic) in cooperation with the EC Cross Border Cooperation ILMM-BSE Project (co-hosted by Georgian partner NGO Civitas Georgica).

IASON Coordinator Prof. Patias at the ISPRS Technical Commission VII Symposium, 29 September - 2 October 2014, Istanbul, Turkey

The Mid-term Symposium of ISPRS Technical Commission VII "Thematic Processing, Modelling and Analysis of Remotely Sensed Data" took place in Istanbul, Turkey on 29 September & 2 October 2014 and was held at Istanbul Technical University. The overall purpose of the symposium was to bring together researchers, scientists and practitioners from all over the world, interested in the advances of remote sensing, computer vision, image
analysis and related fields.
The symposium aimed to be a platform for sharing the results of research and development efforts In that direction IASON consortium members from Romania, launched a tutorial for young scientist and transferred practical exercises on authoring the Earth Science content based on the Virtual Meeting Place developed for the IASON project, and the eGLE and GreenLand platforms developed in both national and international remote sensing applications and helped in pinpointing worldwide advances in remote sensing theory, research, experiments, applications, and technology.
IASON coordinator Prof Patias of AUTH and Prof Altan of EKINOKS presented elements of the project and disseminated project results. Moreover a paper presenting IASON results was submitted at the proceedings of the Symposium and can be downloaded from the project website.
