The LaPenitence & Side Line Dam Community Development Council is a community Organization that is there to meet the needs of the community. Our Vision is to reflect nationally a community that promotes values, self-sufficiency and human development that builds a cohesive society. Our Mission is to aid in the creation of a conducive environment where residents are actively involved in community dev
elopment, are able to express themselves freely and are accepted regardless of age, ethnicity, religion, gender or other barriers. The Motto of the group is to:
Empower the Community; reflect Guyana. The Symbol of the group represents community building and family. Objectives of this Group
The Group is currently in the registration process and will be registered as a Non-Governmental, Non-Profit Organisation and shall function under the following core objectives
i. To garner information about issues affecting the residents of the community in an effort to diminish them and mitigate their impact. To enlighten residents about social issues affecting them and how they impinge on the communities and themselves. To provide residents with an advocacy platform for expression in relation to their perspectives on the plethora of Issues in the community. To provide an environment conducive to community interaction. Making known and expanding the channels of residents’ access to academic, technical & vocational skills enabling them to play a more meaningful role in the development of the communities, regions and country as a whole. Creating spaces where residents can be able to foster livelihood whether it be in the form of farming, craft, catering, youth centers, community offices etc. Create a safe community where residents can feel a sense of security and return back to the days of leaving windows and door open at nights. To network with communities nationally and internationally, who share similar interests of community development.
