Dear UPEC Youth Federation, starting February 22nd, we invite you to join us in daily prayer 🙏🏽 both as a federation and individually, between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m. 🌅⏰ Each day, we will focus on a specific prayer topic as outlined in the agenda. Wherever you are—at home, work, school, or on the road—pause and lift up that day’s focus before God.

Congratulations, UPEC debaters 🥳💯

On behalf of the 𝐔𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, we would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to four exceptional youths who represented our Federation in the recently concluded 2025 Speaker’s National Debating Competition, securing 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 among over 40 participating teams across the country.

These youths include:
• 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐆𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐠𝐨𝐰, UPEC’s former Area Coordinator and current National AYM coordinator of the Guyana Conference of Seventh-Day Adventist
• 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐜𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐬𝐨𝐧, AYM Leader for the Jonestown SDA Church
• 𝐖𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩, UPEC Parliamentarian
• 𝐃𝐧𝐞𝐤𝐚 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐬, Social Vice President for the Golden Grove SDA Church

Their active involvement in their respective churches and early exposure to public speaking within the church setting have undoubtedly contributed to their ability to articulate themselves with excellence throughout the competition.

Their journey began with their first debate on March 28, 2025. After that, they went on to face five more teams of vibrant young people from across Guyana.

Throughout the competition, our youths consistently performed with distinction, earning the two highest scores overall:

• 250 against the 𝐂𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐋𝐨𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (the highest score in the competition)

• 241 against the 𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (the second-highest)

We are especially proud that Marinella Glasgow was named Best Speaker twice during the competition.

On Friday, July 4th, 2025, the finals were held, where our team faced the 𝐑𝐮𝐢𝐦𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐭 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 which they described as “a very challenging competition that taught us critical thinking and true dedication.” Despite the challenge, they rose to the occasion and emerged victorious.

In a remarkable display of commitment, First Speaker Marinella Glasgow debated virtually from the 62nd General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists in the United States, while Second Speaker Shacquelle Wilson and Third Speaker Wiken De Camp represented in person at the Guyana Parliament Chamber.

Our youths proudly represented not only themselves, but also their churches and our Federation at large — and did so in front of several distinguished dignitaries, including:

• 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐳𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐍𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐫, 𝐌.𝐏., Speaker of the National Assembly
• 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐀𝐮𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐲 𝐂. 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐨𝐧, 𝐌.𝐏., Leader of the Opposition
• 𝐎𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭
• 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐬, including representatives from the 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, the 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, and the 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.
