In observance of International Day for Biological Diversity, our Environment Team, in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Biodiversity Unit, conducted an interactive workshop aimed at raising awareness about the importance of biodiversity conservation and environmental stewardship.

The session provided participants with valuable insight into the importance of protecting ecosystems, preserving wildlife, and promoting sustainable environmental practices. Discussions also highlighted the role individuals and organizations can play in supporting biodiversity and maintaining ecological balance.

Today, AGM joins the global community in observing the International Day for Biological Diversity and recognizing the importance of protecting the ecosystems that support life and sustain our natural environment.

Recent biodiversity monitoring at the Aurora Gold Mine recorded 55 bird species from 22 families, including 10 Guiana Shield endemic species, along with 21 species of large- and medium-bodied mammals such as jaguar, puma, giant anteater, tapir, capybara, and white-lipped peccary. Aquatic and herpetological surveys also documented 126 fish from six sampling sites and 16 amphibian and reptile species, reflecting the ecological richness of the region.
