Express International to be first-ever BPO center in Guyana to receive organizational-level COPC certification

As part of its commitment to brand and talent development, another 11 employees, spanning from supervisors to directors of Express International Inc., completed the COPC Contact Center Management training.

The individual-level COPC Contact Center Management training improves customer experience operations based on the COPC Customer Experience (CX) Standard — the industry’s most highly recognized performance management system.

A graduation ceremony was held on Friday evening at Herdmanston Lodge and saw representatives from the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and the American Chamber of Commerce & Industry Guyana (AMCHAM) in attendance.

The graduates are Sekou Belle, Surdass Dhanram, Nikisha Duke, Shaundell Maxwell, Cadacie Morian, Kerwayne Perry, Phalmatie Singh, Donna Springer, Kenisha Welsh, Kwanza Hollingsworth, and Tremaine Baynes.

The company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ken Deocharran told the employees that they all made him proud.

In fact, he urged the graduates to pass on their knowledge to other employees in a bid to create new leaders and achieve the company’s goal of hiring 2000 persons.

The company is also aiming to be the first-ever Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company in Guyana to receive its organizational-level COPC certification.

Earlier this year, Express International, one of Guyana’s fastest-growing BPO companies, pledged $42 million for talent and brand development.

Express International Inc. is one of the smaller Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) organizations in Guyana but has quickly taken the spot of the preferred employer, with more than 70% of its current employees being former call center talents.

The local brand is part of the Express Group of Companies, which includes Express Dedicated LLC (US Trucking companies), First Choice Logistics (US Freight Brokerage company), and Integrated Support Services based in Chattanooga, TN.

“You guys are doing a fantastic job,” Georgetown Mayor tells Express International Leadership

As a follow-up from the Express International “Ken Kares” Foundation launch, the Mayor of Georgetown, His Worship Pandit Ubraj Narine on Tuesday, met with the company’s Leadership Team.

During the engagement, Mayor Narine was given a tour of the Express International facility located at Hadfield Street.

“I feel this company is a great one; it creates employment for young Guyanese… Complements to you. You guys are doing a fantastic job,” Narine posited.

Several issues, including parking, were discussed, and the Mayor committed to offering support where necessary.

Express’s Managing Director Kamaria Crawford also committed to partnering with the Mayor and City Council on future projects that might be of mutual benefit.

Book A Ride
Mayor Narine was also briefed on Express International’s newest business venture, Book-A-Ride (BAR).

Book-A-Ride is a ridesharing company owned by the Express Group of Companies, which intends to revolutionise Guyana’s transportation industry by primarily emphasising the utilisation of technology and the improvement of transportation safety.

A grand launch is slated for August 5, featuring Dancehall Superstar Jada Kingdom and Soca sensation Nessa Preppy and chutney artist Savita Singh alongside popular local singers at the Tower Poolside.

Earlier this month, Express International launched its “Ken Kares” Foundation, geared towards fulfilling its corporate social responsibility, and completed a clean-up campaign on the Kingston seawalls that saw more than 140 employees and special invites collecting 1300 lbs. of garbage.

Express International launches a foundation geared towards the environment, assisting vulnerable youths.

As part of its corporate social responsibility, Express International Inc. on Saturday launched its “Ken Kares” Foundation, geared towards the environment and assisting the elderly as well as vulnerable young women and children.

The launch was held at the Kingston Seawall and was followed by a clean-up exercise by over 100 Express International employees, volunteering with the foundation.

Though the foundation was launched on Saturday, Express International, one of Guyana’s fastest-growing Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies, has been involved in several charitable works.

The company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ken Deocharran, explained that he has been doing many charitable works, but given that he has a company, which boasts over 400 employees, he believes that he can make a big impact on the lives of many Guyanese.

“The goal is to focus on the elderly, women, and children, and especially in remote areas where no one gets into and the environment. In the immediate Georgetown, you have all the homes where you can feed the orphanage and take care of the elderly, but there are others that you don’t know about, and those are the ones that I truly want to get to,” Deocharran explained.

The CEO added that the launch is just the scratching of the surface regarding many more community projects and initiatives that are in the pipeline.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Georgetown, Ubraj Narine, hailed the initiative and said he is happy to see private organisations and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) coming on board to support the Mayor and City Council.

Senior Environmental Officer attached to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Ladonna Kissoon recognised Express International for being an environmental steward while encouraging staff to report anyone found threatening our environment.

Meanwhile, the company joined forces with EPA and donated several items to Seawalls and Beyond.

Seawalls and Beyond is a local group of about 12 persons who volunteer their time to clean the seawall area, especially in the vicinity of the Bandstand.

As such, Express International committed to providing 20 volunteers for the next 12 months to aid in any activity the group may have.

Dwayne Hackett, a representative from Seawalls and Beyond, expressed gratitude for the donation and volunteers while urging better waste disposal.

Apart from the Mayor and EPA, representatives from the American Chamber of Commerce & Industry Guyana (AMCHAM) were also in attendance at the launch.

The Southern Ring planetary nebula (360 Composite)

Some stars go out with a bang. This image shows the Southern Ring planetary nebula, the James Webb Space Telescope shows a dying star cloaked by dust and layers of light.

The dimmer star at the center of this scene has been sending out rings of gas and dust for thousands of years in all directions, and NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope has revealed for the first time that this star is cloaked in dust.

Two cameras aboard Webb captured the latest image of this planetary nebula, cataloged as NGC 3132, and known informally as the Southern Ring Nebula. It is approximately 2,500 light-years away.

Webb will allow astronomers to dig into many more specifics about planetary nebulae like this one – clouds of gas and dust expelled by dying stars. Understanding which molecules are present, and where they lie throughout the shells of gas and dust will help researchers refine their knowledge of these objects.

This observation shows the Southern Ring Nebula almost face-on, but if we could rotate it to view it edge-on, its three-dimensional shape would more clearly look like two bowls placed together at the bottom, opening away from one another with a large hole at the center. In thousands of years, these delicate layers of gas and dust will dissipate into surrounding space.
