Awee 50 is an interactive webpage designed to keep persons up-to-date on all activities, news and events related to Guyana's 50th Anniversary Celebration. This is a very exciting time for our dear land and as we prepare to celebrate our Golden Jubilee it is important that persons remain current with all that is happening. As Guyana celebrates its 50th year of independence, Gafoors and Sons Ltd would have been celebrated as one of Guyana's longest standing local companies. But today however many looked on in shock and dismay as years of hard work, commitment and good business sense went up in flames.
The local giant which was expanded and developed by a young man and his wife who met at the Central High School showed what the "Guyanese dream" was all about. Gafoors grew and employed scores of Guyanese and remained committed to the public through not only quality products but also many community projects as they built one of the most well known names in business locally.
The fire which took place this afternoon is certainly a heart breaking loss not only for the Gafoors and their many staff but also the generations of Guyanese who would have built their homes on Gafoor's service, quality and price.
