Nine complete Advanced Medical First Aid Training| | READ
Nine women who were awarded scholarships by WiMAC - Guyana, recently completed the Advanced Medical First Aid Training at the AA Maritime and Offshore Training Institute.
A total of twenty scholarships were awarded by WiMAC Guyana earlier this year in observance of the inaugural International Day for Women in Maritime, which was celebrated under the theme "Training-Visibility-Recognition: Supporting a barrier-free working environment".

Recently met with Ms Thandi McAllister, Ms Katina Benn George and Ms Anesa Barnes of the Women in Maritime Association Caribbean (WiMAC) - Guyana Chapter, to discuss the inclusion of and support for Guyanese women in the country's rapidly-expanding maritime and offshore sectors. We share a common goal of dismantling barriers which restrict the social and economic mobility of women, by providing opportunities which they have not benefitted from historically. Currently, my office is partnering with AA Maritime and Offshore Training Institute to offer 100 scholarships to indigenous women.

WiMAC - Guyana supports capacity building.....
Earlier this year, Alexis Venture was the recipient of a scholarship for the STCW Basic Safety Training (BST) afforded by WiMAC - Guyana Chapter in collaboration with the AA Maritime and Offshore Training Institute.
Subsequent to the completion of the training, Alexis was able to acquire a Guyana Seaman's Discharge Book. A Seaman's Discharge Book is a valid record of a Seafarer's employment and competence which is required for Seafarers serving on merchant ships.
The acquisition of the BST and Discharge Book is an excellent way for someone to position themself for a career in the Maritime Sector.
WiMAC - Guyana wishes Alexis much success in her journey onwards.
